Dear Sim and other pilots.

I have found a new game withing the FS9. That is to try to fly parrallel with any AI planes, and pretend I am helping them land and so on. I think this is possible, but how do I intercept and then turn parallel with same speed as AI planes, Say with a F16, Mooney Bravo, or P51. When try this it so fast that I can't catch them on the way to land.

Any helps here?

hey,
i've been doing this for fun, too. i try to make it like a real world interception (suspect aircraft isn't sqwacking/ deviation from flight plan without notice to ATC, that kind of thing) and then escort them in to land. the only help i can give you is to become familiar with the different approaches into the large airport you fly near. also, set the AI traffic to between 80%-100% to ensure there will be planes departing and arriving. also, you have to constantly make adjustments to your speed using the throttle, speedbrake ( / ) during the enroute portion and then flaps, gear, throttle and speedbrake on approach or else you will be going too fast in the F-16. and finally, make sure you have fs9 setup so that it displays other aircraft's ID tags including type or plane and distance. here's a screenshot of my interception of a 737. hope all this helps.

Thanks Viper 21,

If you get by mistake, behind the intercept planes to close, do sau the jets engines blow your plane out of control?

Also how do you get your HUD brighter with sun or bright skies in the back ground?

Again thanks for Your helps.

hey,
you can adjust the brightness of your HUD by clicking on the up/down arrows (see pic). also, you can bring up the GPS by clicking on the "A/G" button (see pic).

...

don't worry about getting behind the jet engine exhaust when intercepting. unlike in the real world, there is no "jet wash" or "wake turbulence" built into fs9  Roll Eyes just be sure not to collide with the intercept aircraft and you'll be ok Wink

And also, if you cant find any AI to intercept, you may want to go to places like LA, and NYC to find LOTS of planes, i've noticed there's hardly any AI in the country, etc.

I have a program (freeware) that adds a ton of AI to the canary islands in FS9, you could try it out if you want to constantly follow planes, lol.

Hope this helps,

Mike

I cant say thats correct actually,

I got right behind and MD-80's engine, and i started shaking and loosing speed, i'm pretty sure it was that.

Also, if you get directly behind an AI plane and get somewhat close, you're plane will immediately go to zero airspeed and you will quite literally fall out of the sky. Other than that it's great fun, although multiplayer formation is even better because you don't have that "falling out of the sky" problem, and you can impress the other person.  Grin

Somebody had to do a job, but Nobody wanted to do it. Nobody could see that Anybody could do it, and Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Nobody ended up doing it, and it so happened that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
