The night skies over London, November 1940.
...
A lone raider stalks the night.
...
Fighter command vectors an interceptor to check out the “Bogie”.
...
Visual contact. Closing in for a kill.
...
A bit too keen on the trigger and the enemy is alerted.
...
The raider dives for the safety of the clouds and looses the fighter.
...
But there is another predator stalking the shadows tonight…
...
And this one has eyes in the dark.
...
Without warning the Beaufighter closes in and makes the intercept.
...
First victory of the night.
...
Back on patrol.

The Bristol Beaufighter MkIF-NF was fitted with the AI MkIV airborne radar. It retained the MkIF’s six .303 machine guns and four drum fed Hispano cannon and had the 1590hp Bristol Hercules XI radial engines fitted.
On November 19th 1940, John “Cats Eyes” Cunningham scored the first victory for a radar equipped Beaufighter whilst flying MkIF NF R2153 of 604 Squadron. Cunningham went on to claim 20 night victories, 16 of these on the Beaufighter.
