I found a Civil Air Patrol texture for the default FS2002 Cessna182. Can someone tell me how to apply it over the existing one ( I think it has 3 different textures )already.

Thanks,
Chief

Hi Chief. My walkthrough might help. http://www.simviation.com/lair/Repaint2002.htm

There is no limit to the number of variations for a particular aircraft. The new Texture folder can have any name you wish providing it follows the FS folder naming conventions. Texture.3, Texture green, Texture.CAP etc. The suffix following the period will be defined by the texture= line in the new Aircraft.cfg entry.

Repaints usually come with a sample Aircraft.cfg entry. Paste that into the CFG instead of creating your own as in my example. Make sure the new [fltsim.x] header is numbered in sequence or it won't work.

Thanks for the advice Hagar.  I tried to do as you suggested and evidently screwed something up. Now I can't get the 182 to show up at all. It looks like the original airfile is not in the folder, and its not in the trash can. So short of having to reinstall FS2002 what are my options?

Thanks,

Chief

Hi Chief. I should have warned you to take a backup copy of Aircraft.cfg before editing it. This is good advice for any files you intend modifying. I assume you mean Aircraft.cfg & not the AIR file.

I can mail you my own  Aircraft.cfg if that will help. I would need to know if this is the c182 or c182rg.
