Hi guys!
1st post in this particular topic
my problem is I got a GF Ti4600 124 RAM with the newest driver avaliable, and my top resolution is 1024x768x32 60 MHz - and is quite smooth while flying, I got 20-25 fps always
but is there a way to increase the resolution, let's say to 1280x.... in order to make good shots????
if so, how?
thanx in advance

Hi Foo_Fighter, I think your problem is your monitor.
If I plug my FX5600 into my old (8yrs) monitor, it only supports 800x600, if I plug the same card into my current Dell monitor, I can goto 1600x1200!
Incidentally, with my FX5600, I've found very little differance performance wise between 800x600 & 1600x1200 its about 3 fps in FS2002 strange, I'd have thought it would have been more!
Paul.

daewoo has a factory nearby the place I work it's a huge complex, from microwaves to cars!
and Spidious, sorry for the delay it cost me about US$ 260.00 + my old monitor I think US$ 280.00 total including tax - quite a good deal unhn?
the image quality is absurd comparing to the normal ones, absolutly clear and very very fast, no fliker and the UV emissions are very low - my eyes won't hurt after a 5 hr of flight LOL!

foo_fighter: I once look at getting a LCD, but everyone I talked to said that its great except for gaming. It seems that there is a ghosting effect that appears in the screen. Have you noticed anything of the sort?

not at all! crystal clear image!
U'll have to adjust the settings for image quality, performance -> games in the setup of the monitor
when U do this, everything is just fine!

Where did you find this monitor??? I have a 17" LG Flatron and it only goes up to 1280x1024. I couldn't find any LCD monitors of 17" that go over this resolution. But I would be very interested if I could. Is there a site I can go to to see it??

Hi Gixer,
I've bought it here in Brasil from my usual seller, he has this hardware store and he buys directly form Phillips_LG which are producing together monitors, TV sets, cel phones and others, the resolution can be that high but hurts deeply the performance, I think it's easy for U (US?) find this very monitor too!

Ok. I must be blind
I cant find a 17" with that res in any of the online shops I use in the UK. Are you sure its an LCD monitor? (Am i right in thinking TFT is LCD??)
I can find CRT monitors with this resolution but not LCD/TFT monitors
If I can get a higher res LCD/TFT though it would be cool.
Dont suppose you got any links to sites with info on your monitor have you foo?

That would be great. I am very happy with my TFT just my 17"crt went up to 1600x1200 and Its the only thing that really lets my TFT down is the 1280x1024 limit. I just couldn't find any 17" ones with a higher res

Well the one I found was advertised as 1600x1200 but when my mate got it and we set it up it was a max of 1280x1024!! it was false advertisement
he got a refund
I think I must now be right in saying there are NO 17" TFT's that go above 1280x1024. So how the other guys does is beyond me.
I have found a 19" TFT that goes up to 1600x1200 but its very expensive and I lost the link now. Once you get to 21" most descent ones do 1600x1200.
Myself I got rid of my TFT and brought a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 19"CRT. Its purely amazing, a bit big but the picture quality is excellent. Its got a super bright modes so you can get the same vividness as a tft too
And it goes up to some silly high res 1940x14** I cant remeber but when I get my 6800Ultra its gonna kick ass

I had a quick look for that 19" tft as I remebered it was made by ACER. But I gotta feelin theirs was mis advertised too
The smallest TFT with 1600x1200 I can find is 20.1" and isn't going to be cheap
Thats why I was askin where the other guy found his as I was sure you couldn't get a 17"tft that runs at 1600x1200.

I am going to stick with my CRT for now, until i either have enough money to get a really decent 17" TFT or get a really decent high res CRT.
My system:
Intel Q6600@3.6GHz, Corsair XMS2 4GB DDR2-6400 (4-4-4-12-1T) , Sapphire 7850 OC 2BG 920/5000, X-Fi Fatality, Corsair AX 750, 7 Pro x64

Well now I got one of the next gen cards on order to be good the monitor has to do high res, i.e. 1600x1200. I cant see 17"tft's doing this for a while and when they first do they will be extremely expensive
If your after high res and good pic quality then you will probably have to find a 19"crt with a Diamond tube in it. Think they are currently the best tubes for CRT's around at the moment. Plus you can pick up a 19" CRT like this for cheaper than a 17"tft.
