Hi:-
I have completed solo, private and instrument check rides but I am unable to complete commercial check ride. I don’t know where the mistake is. I successfully complete the first segment of commercial pilot check ride but in 2nd segment the examiner gives me 2 errors.
1.      You did not lower the gear for descent.
2.      You did not reduce the manifold pressure to 15 inches for descent.

I have tried to complete this check ride 20 to 25 times but always examiner gives me those errors. Can you help me that when examiner ask to “demonstrate a gear down descent to 3500 ft” what I do? I always first reduce the manifold pressure to 15 inches and when the speed reaches to 152 KIAS I lower the gear. But I cannot pass it. So please please reply me and help me as soon as possible. If There is any so please tell me how to correct this.

Give him the bird and find a new checkride pilot.

Oh, did you mean in FS2004? Can't help you there, I just have experience with real ones. Wink

The MSFS checkrides are about as buggy as a July picknic. I've heard of people who've completed them but so far I haven't managed and I've seen posts by people who are certified flight instructors who can't.

I have done a few of them, but they are buggy, like you must not gain or lose attitude and must not change throttle or anything on aircraft but he keeps saying reduce speed.  I always say "how?".

For a laugh whilst he was flying i kept the throttle to zero by continuely moving it at zero so he could not reset it and the aircraft stalled and crashed.  He said i crashed the plane and failed the test.  I say "you were flying the plane not me"

Captain,

Give me a day or so and let me see what I can find out about this checkride for you.

Captain,

I looked at the code for the commercial check ride and I think I have an idea of what the examiner is expecting.  Now, I've not flown this check ride myself so you'll have to tell me how reasonable this sounds.

The descent begins when she tells you demonstrate a gear-down descent to 3,500 feet.  This message looks like the start of a couple of important timers.

First, you have 20 seconds to set your MP to 15 inches.  Tolerances on manifold pressure are +/- 2 inches.  So your target MP is 15 inches but anything between 13 and 17 inches inclusive should pass.

Second, it appears that you have 30 seconds to lower the gear.  Now you can't do that until the plane slows to below 152 kts and that won't happen until you set the manifold pressure so the timing looks a little tight here.

She says your speed should be 140 kts but it looks like she's after 142 kts +10 or - 15 kts.  So I think anything between 127 and 152 would be okay.  Since you passed the instrument checkride this should be kid stuff.

The altitude tolerances are +/- 120 feet.  This means when you reach 3620 feet in your descent the examiner is going to consider you to be at 3500 feet.

Again, the timing seems to be critical here so I'm not sure if I'm reading the code correctly without more investiagtion but that could take several days to weeks to look at.

Let me know if this helps (or doesn't).

Billerator - LOL, yes I have, but I got to the landing section and then VOR's and can't get past that. He keeps saying I must not be paying attention and it ends.  I just don't get it.
