I just installed BAeS13 (S3 Viking) addon into CFS2. Looks terrific, but having a few problems: 1. Game exits on Exit Flight, 2. No guns or gun sound. Any suggestions? Thanks, Nancy

I'm assuming you mean the BAe:S13- CFS2 VERSION in simviation's cfs2 modern section: http://www.simviation.com/cfs2mod5.htm

I thought I'd take a look at it - I can't tell you why you're getting a crash to desktop when you Exit flight, but the reason that you're getting no guns is that there is no damage profile provided with the aircraft.

I thought that CFS2 provided a default damage profile in the event that it did not find one in the aircraft's main folder, but it seems that this is not happening here. Maybe this download isn't as CFS2 compatible as it purports to be... Wink

Can anyone else advise on this? I'd be interested to hear myself.

OK. I'm on it. Downloading BAe S13.zip now.
At first sight this is a ficticious repaint of the original S3 Viking by Rick Sasala. As a commercial aircraft I would not expect it to have guns. If it has no DP file it should use the default.dp in the CFS2\Aircraft folder. This is a generic DP based on one of the CFS2 default fighters & would not suit this aircraft. If this file is missing you most likely deleted it by mistake. It can be retrieved from the CD.

I'll check it out later but might not be able to duplicate the CTD problem on my system.

Wow, that was fast! Yes, the link is : http://www.simviation.com/cfs2mod5.htm by Rick Sasala.

Regarding guns: I'm doing this for a friend who flew these, so I'm not an expert on the plane itself. I would imagine that it should have guns, but I'll have to ask him for that information. However, it is not a Lear Jet, and the plane engine sounds accurate to me.

Regarding Exit: I tried the game again selecting a default plane which did not exit the plane on Exit Flight to test if the downloaded files created problems with the program itself. It worked as normal. Then again back to the S3, which again caused the game to exit to the desktop.

OK Nancy. I checked it out. It has no DP file so should use the default DP I mentioned. This is painted as a ficticious airliner so would not have weapons anyway. I can't duplicate the CTD. The panel & sound files are zipped up for some unexplained reason. Make sure you installed them & the included gauges properly.

If you want an authentic S3 it might be an idea to try the original from my previous link.*

*PS. I checked this one out for you. It's actually an FS2000 aircraft & has no DP file either. You would need to re-alias the panel & sound CFG files or use the ones with the other version for it to display in CFS2.

The S-3 Does Not Have Guns, Its An Anti Ship And Sub Jet. It Should Use The Learjet Sound. But If u Dont Have Any Jet Sound Installed Then There Wont Be Any Sound.

The BAeS13.zip addon seems to be working fine now. I reinstalled CFS2 on top of the existing program. Guns with sound showed up as well as exiting correctly to the game menu without changing anything with the S3 files. That's all I did. Pretty amazing something worked! ~ Nancy

yes it is for fs200 i have the plane and flew it but it really dissapointed me since it is not a really cfs2 mod, for starters the wing pylons should be empty so you can put some ordenance on them.
Never had that problem but some like this one with another.
Regarding S-3 weaponry, well it is a sub hunter, mine laying, tanker, vip (GB j.r. flew one)and in some very rare cases for surgical strikes and for lase targeting.
so the weapons should be fropm torpedoes to guided weapons (i´ver seen this in an old AIR COMBAT magazine circa1990) mavericks and LGB´s, there is only one (1) built for COd purposes and it serves with the KittyHawk (can´t remember).
sorry if i let myself carried away, but i like the type and i think it is time for a real cfs2 version.
