I have downloaded fsnav460.zip and fsnavss7.zip. Rather than install the scenery basis package I prefer to install the full database. Regretably I am too stupid to understand the instructions in the readme file. Would someone help me please. Am I doing the wrong thing anyway?

Well, I just D/l fsnav460.zip, installed it and then it has worked faithfully since. Heed the instructions, it needs around 1/2 hour to make the database. I don't know what the ss7.zip is, but I would forget it.

Hi,

Fsnavss7 is a collection of SID/STAR procedures for many airports. In case you do not know what SID/STAR is I can tell you that whenever you takeoff from an airport you have to follow specific procedures until you exit the airports area. This is called SID (Standard Instrument Departure). Similarily there is STAR (Standard Terminal ARrival) for the approaches.

Abject apologies for my earlier post. I have ignored all readmes and tutorials and just used my common sense to install fsnav. It is running like a dream with a full data base.
