Hi all,

I am encountering a problem with Fs9 that is very strange. Every once in a while I notice that aircraft CFG's seem to be removed from aircrafts folders in the FS9 directory.

The first time I encountered this I was loading a saved flight for the Daulphin Coast Guard helicopter, Then I noticed to day when I tried to load a saved flight using the S70 Aegens Hawak helicopter it's CFG also turned up removed or deleted by an unknown program.

Is anyoneelse enocuntering this issue?

Has someone hacked into your computer?.its been going around i have heard.if your useing win xp check user accounts and see how many there are.if theres one that should not be there you may have been hacked and its a good idea to make your system password protected.but never heard of a program deleteing files unless it installed them.these post you see where theres a sign saying your IP address your running windows so an so i know where you live.i am not shure those little gimmicks in those post are harmless but whether they are or not i dont like them.and in some fourms i have been to there banned.but in this day and time do as much as you can to protect yourself.good luck.

May be a stray program.  ???

This is pretty strange, have you scanned you pc for any adware or spyware, and just checking for harmful applications is always a good precaution.
Its very easy to pick up such a program from the internet, you wont even know about it.

Then again Im not an expert in this area.

Your IP and the information of your service provider is sent out constantly, its a way of ID'ing a PC.
Unfortuantley it also means that it can be located geographically.
Generally if you have a firewall, you can sleep peacefuly, its not likeley somebody will go to huge efforts just to see some files on your pc.

i will look into the provided information thank you for your assistance. It strangely enough started happening when I downloaded this UH1Z Cobra. I thought the program canceled out another program. That wasn't the case at all. The same thing happened like I said to another aircraft where I found that the cfg was removed from the aircraft folder.

I am definately going to look into that and sqaush whatever bug is eating my CFG files. Grin

Thanks for the suggestions guys, because I do beleive I have been hacked and someone is playing games with my machine.

Done thank you guys again, I looked in the user accounts and it showed guest sign in off and my account. Since it was unprotected I made it password protected. But I will have to monitor all of my aircrafts CFG files to see if this happens again.

This is very strange though!  Undecided

I am totally unaware of this built in firewall feature in Win.XP. I use to programs that protect (or atleast suppose to ) my coputer against virus and hackers.

MSN PRemium internet browser with pop up blockers, junk mail filters and virusscan email scanners.

McCaffe Security Virusscan service which is suppose to detect virus and delete programs infected. This program has a firewall that I am not using because it prevents me surfing the net (very wacky) and hackers from getting in, which is what it is suppose to do.

How do I find this firewall on windows XP to see if it is active or not?

P.s. I ran adaware 6 and it found nothing in the PC that would be deleting aircraft CFG files.

Click on
My Computer
Click on
"View Network Connection"
Right click on whichever connection you use to connect to the Internet

Click on tab that says
"Advanced"
The top box that sys protect my computer should have the box checked.
If not check it
You will have to restart the computer then...

That didn't seem to resolve the problem. Today my Mig 19, Typhoon, and F16 aircraft CFG's were deleted. Something wacky is going on and I think ICQ or some of these programs I use for conversations on the net are to blame. So I will be cutting them out of circulation on my pc and keep monitoring the situation.

This is a real pain in the a$$ but I keep the original zip files from my downloads to avoid downloading them again!

Mav,

Have you tried making your "aircraft" folder read-only?

Could be some app somewhere on your PC is deleting these files, so it could help.

Looked into that

It seems to have worked, my files haven't been getting deleted once I reinstalled them. The puzzling part is that it seemed to be my add on applications getting their CFGs deleted. The default models weren't been touched.

I clicked the protect my pc box like you said
We'll see what happens now
But I think that might interfer with my online game playing won't it?
