When I'm making videos in fs2002 and go to review or play them back, somtimes it works, and sometimes I get a very rapid playback. Sound familiar? Anyone know of any solutions? Thanx

I have just made 2 and they are fine! All I can suggest is that you check you Sim Rate. Options > Sim Rate > Normal or use the mousable clock gauge at '1'
Hope that's it, Dan

Hi Duster ,
I have had many problems with playbacks also . Sometimes they are fine and , at other times , I hear some sort of bumping around and then the video ends without having made the recorded flight . I am aware of the settings mentioned and I have it set to Normal . I have not experimented with other settings . Some videos start over and over and never progress beyond the early part of the recording .
I am wondering if you seem to have completely solved the problems you were having ???

Well get this...My whole simulator rate is screwed way up...when I go to a replay...say for 20 seconds...it will prelay about 3seconds of that over and over...also my simulator rate is screwed up that ....for instance....I am in ajet go 600 miles and hour (6 seconds a mile)...well that mile will take about 3 seconds...I have FSUIPC and have the simulator rate down to 1....I asked to get a refund on the game...well that would be $40...more than what I can buy for a new game....

Hello, all. Here is what I have learned about making videos in FS2K. First, realize that these videos are not videos in the sense of an .mpg file or Quicktime movies, which can be played as standalone files. FS2K videos are more renactments or replays, needing FS2K to be running to do so. They are located in the "My Flights" folder under the "Flights" folder, and as you can see they are normally quite small in comparison to an .mpg or similar file.
Once you've made a video, in the Remarks section type in the Flight the video was made from. For instance, I have a video entitled "3 point demo runway 30" which started with a flight I made under My Save Flights entitled "Short final 30 Yorkton". It's a Super Cub on short final runway 30 in Yorkton where I fly from. Then in the future when I am going to runt he "3 point demo runway 30" video I first load the "Short final 30 Yorkton" flight.
Loading that first seems to work just about all the time, and you can even change aircraft once it's going. Every now and then I get what I call a "flashback" in that after I select a
video, the computer keeps jumping from start to reloading the sequence to start to reloading, etc. If you just hit the P key and pause it for a second it seems to solve the problem.
There are two other ways to get a video. One is simply to use a video camera, which works well with a laptop or one of the new flat panel displays, but will show bars on a normal cathode ray tube monitor (unless you have a very expensive camera with a monitor sync. Or you can use a nifty screen capture utility called "My Screen Recorder" which you can download (free to try, about US $29 to buy). Just go to any search engine to find it. Very cool and very detailed, but I suggest you have at least a 1.8 Mhz machine with 512 Mg RAM for the latter.
Hope that helps. Cheers,
Duster 27

If you've got a digital video camera, you can also attach the camera to the computer and record directly from your video card.

Hello, Scott. Yes, I would like to record direct to my miniDV camera, but I don't have a video card with a video out line. My computer (HP Pavilion laptop) just has a DV in/out and S-video out, and my camera (a Canon) doesn't have any software to capture the screen. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Unfortunately no, because this is an option I've just started to explore myself.
Based on what you've said though, here's my best guess.
If your computer has a DV out, then you should be able to go from there to an input on your camera. I'd have to go take mine out of wherever I happen to have it at the moment (which means I'd need to know where that is...where IS that thing anyway now that we're talking about it....)
Lemme toy with it for a while and see what I can come up with.

Going from the camera to the computer via the DV connection works just fine. I use it quite a lot to edit home movies. But going the other way is the issue, and although you can connect other digital devices for input to the camera this way, none for the computer. So far. I would imagine it's just a software issue, i.e. finding a program that does that. Do keep me posted.
Thanks,

But if your computer has the output, and your camera has the input, it should be as simple as selecting the input on the camera as your "source" and hitting record.
I'll play with it.
