Can someone please help a relative newcomer?  I have tried, without success, to activate EFIS.  When I select the EFIS Master Switch, Type, Range, Density and Plot Intercepting Path all become active.  The remaining buttons - Lock to ILS etc; Lock to VOR etc; VOR 1; VOR 2 and Altitude - all remain Inactive.  Probably there is something I am missing but I cannot think of it.  Any assistance would be appreciated. ???

You have to have a radio (ILS, VOR, etc.) active, i.e. tuned in to an active signal, before the EFIS can lock on to it.

Try tuning your NAV1 radio to a nearby VOR frequency.  Then click on the NAV1 button on the radio panel.  If you're tuned in you will hear morse code beeping.  You can click the button again to turn it  off.

Now your EFIS should be active ONLY for VOR.  When you get closer to an airport and within ILS range you can do the same thing with the ILS signal.

A 'Tongue in Cheek' comment ?  I take it as such.  However, do you consider use of VASI, Autopilot or other aids to come under the same heading: "Hey, that's cheating"? Wink
