???  Can anyone please tell me why my frame rates are locked into a maximum 20 frame rates per second. There must be a setting in FS2004 to unlock this setting. I am currently averaging 42 frames per second in Combat flight simulator 3. Thanks in advance to those who answer.

You can do this by entering setup, going to display, then hardware...

the slider should be in the topmleft hand corner of the box...Smiley

Yep, just move the slider but first make sure you want to. If your sim is working OK the way it is then you shouldn't touch the frame rate slider. This setting doesn't always make the sim run faster. If your computer is only capable of 20 fps then setting this slider higher will degrade performance instead of improving it.

The trick is to find a slider position that makes for the best balance between frames per second and overall sim performance. When you find that you should leave it there. I've found the best setting for my computer is to leave the slider set to about 25 fps. This gives me a smooth playing sim and doesn't waste resources trying to maintain a fps setting that my computer can't handle.

Yup as others say limit to 25 or your just wasting resources like your card and processor power!!

Also makes online playing better. I read in theory if you set at 40fps it will try to send 40fps of data, where as setting it at 25 will require less resources again.
