I was one of those who eagerly purchased CFS3 as soon as I saw it on the shelves.  As a HUGE fan of CFS1 I couldn't wait.  Unfortunately, I was one of those who couldn't get the program to run without excessive stutters due to having an older computer (despite the sys requirements on the box).

"She Who Must Be Obeyed" finally relented and we got a new computer.  Naturally I couldn't wait to boot up CFS3.  All I can say now is "WOW!"  I haven't had to tweak it at all and the graphics are just stunning.  I absolutely love the game.  As with any software there are pros and cons, but I can live with the cons of this one.  I eagerly look forward to the add ons to come on stream just like what happened to CFS1.  That, in my mind is what made CFS1 so great, all the beautiful aircraft and missions that so many talented people made.  Here's looking forward to many excellent add ons and enjoyable flying.

Cheers all!

Lady Luck likes you!

I just wish I could say "wow" about CFS3  Roll Eyes

It just stutters and stutters and stutters  Cry

Yet FS9 is smooth, maxxed with anti-alaising!

I've given up on CFS3 and am likely to lose it (my sanity!) completely if CFS4 is from the same Kennel........ Roll Eyes

My own CFS3 experience was similar to yours. It sat on a shelf for over a year even though my system specs far out did the recomended specs. A cheap and cheerful video card upgrade solved most of my CFS3 problems. Enjoy it for what it is, but don't hold your breath waiting for addons because over a year down the line good ones are few and far between. I think it was good old Hagar in another thread that pointed out that in just a few months since release, the number of FS9 addons coming through is far, far in excess of those coming through for CFS3. M$ made a mistake going away from the tried and trusted formula and lets hope CFS4 addresses some of the shortcomings of this version.

I agree with HawkerTempest5.mines been off the ole hard drive for quite a while now.i could run the sim ok with my system but couldnt find hardly no one in multiplayer maybe 5 at the most compared to the 120 on a good day with cfs2.and since moveing up to win xp cfs2 wont run on my system.so the best thing going in WWII air combat is ubie softs il2 forgotten battles.theres a new add on comeing in the next mounth or two that sounds like a winner.in the mean time while we wait for some thing else to come along heres a nice site you can watch a few documentarys and a hole lot of training films on WWII aircraft its all free to watch.enjoy.

Nice to hear something positive for a change.
I had CFS3 with my old graphics card and it was okay, then I got a Ti4600 and a load of beer in one night and started fiddling. I have no idea what I did, but she flys great.

Happy hunting

I've given up on playing with CFS3's settings, its quite happy @ 800x600 with everything on "1" it'll romp along @80fps with about 5spm (Stutters per minute!) I've found Beer seems to ease the stutter problem, trouble is the flight model gets worse, the more cans I drink, strange really......  Roll Eyes  Grin

I wonder what you did Ozzy, I really do.

Paul.
