Most heli's begin to vibrate like mad after reaching 100 kts; I have only a few that don't. Is there a fix for this (aside from staying below 100 kts, of course Grin)

fm3 that is about the limit of helicopter airspeed old bean Wink
You can tweak the aircraft.cfg file, but it leads to other problems....

Hmmm...I have an MD500E that'll do 125 kts with no troubles....and in FS2002, I had a bell222 that did about 200 (like a commanche attack chopper!) and had no problems. The bell222, updated for FS9, shakes wildly at anything over 100 kts. Also the Agusta 109 shakes wildy if I reach 100 kts....just seems like some of these choppers have cruise speeds higher than this, and so many of them suffer from this......and yet a few others do not.....I wondered if maybe there was something wrong with the air files or cfg files........all these choppers are supposed to be for FS9, also....not choppers made for FS2002  and just dropped in FS9 with the possibilty that they may not be truly compatible.....oh well....

FM3,

the spec for the Bell 222 is a max speed of 130 knots. The speed range for today's choppers is 130-150 knots. Can't help you with the .air files, but you might be right.

Jean-Francois.

Have you guys tried out Jordan Moore's Blackhawk. It's one awesome chopper... I think it starts to shake at around 180kts 8)

Turn up the realism, most of my choppers air files were made for high realism and were never tested on low, if i ever reinstall FS i always forget to do the realism and the helis always shake and never get good speeds outta them.

turn up the realism to ALMOST 100%, put in your fs9.cfg file the line in the controls section:

stick_sensitivity_mode=0

and have fun! you also should assign a button to pitch up and down to help you get your hele under control. the reason they shake is because you dont have the pitch right. you can also use the default trim buttons but youre going to have to press them at least 20-30 times just to get the hele level for hovering, and then back 20-30 times to be able to land...

with pitch, dont press anything to take off, then press pitch down 10 times to fly around, 5 pitch up to hover, and 5 down again to land somewhere.

enjoy it and practice. flying helecopters is the coolest thing ever once you get use to it.
