This is in reguards to the a/c folder, where the AI a/c and other planes are. My question is this, can you get the other a/c not the AI birds , to show up and run successfully into and from the a/c selection window? I would really like to obtain those a/c . They are in the folder just sitting there and i would like to enhance my sim. gameing. I am using a fairly new mach. running WIN/XP. Thank you in advance.

Hi First_flight. Try the file named CFS2 Fly posted here.
http://www.simviation.com/cfs2misc3.htm

There is a selection of files posted on this & other sites to improve the AI Only drones. I haven't tried them as I don't use the default aircraft.

Hagar, thank you for your timely reply. Would i simply drag and drop this zip. into the main a/c folder? And if you dont mind my asking, the a/i and other aircraft in the prog. wouldnt they preform ? Is this why you dont use them? Just  curious. I really dont get alot of free time to "PLAY" . But i must say, I have tried to download and install a few a/c from the download section  unsucessfully, following Grumpay's directions (operator error Roll Eyes ) I do have Fs9, 2k2pro, Cfs2&3. Everytime i do get to get in the air it is allways a new and great experience I have had some success downloading other a/c toFs2k2 . I guess i can chaulk my errors up to inexperience w/puters Grin. Once again thank you .

Hi First_flight. You might not realise that I am also Grumpy you refer to. Wink If you have problems installing aircraft to CFS2 or any other M$ sims please mail me with the details & I'll walk you through it. I would need to know the particular file & exactly where to download it.

As I recall, the CFS2 Fly update I mentioned contains modified AIR files (& possibly Aircraft.cfg files) for all the default AI Only drones. (You must unzip all downloaded files before installing them.)

To make the aircraft flyable, paste the new files into their respective folders in CFS2\Aircraft. Please be careful & take backup copies of the existing files first. Instructions are usually included in a Readme.txt file with the download. These were not intended to be flyable & don't have panels or a DVC. There are various panels & fixes for this posted here & other CFS2 sites.

PS. I just downloaded CFS2 Fly to check it out. When you unzip the file it contains a further 9 zipfiles containing the updated files. Unzip the ones you wish to make flyable & paste the extracted files into the appropriate aircraft folders in CFS2. For example: Paste tbf_avenger.air (from tbf_avenger.zip) into the TBF_AVENGER folder.

Hagar,I mean Grumpy,I mean Hagar I apologize! I do see the error of my ways. I really need to pull my head out of ......!!! Sometimes i start writing before i think. Please accept my apology !!! I should be banished from this earth for this blunder Grin. I am so embarrased . I thank you for the insight about the drone a/c but, i am somewhat confused as to why those other a/c are in the air/files if you(I) havent seen them while engagring in the missions/campaigns,like the (Avenger, P-40 etc.)

I will try to go back a load the a/c again. The problem i had seemed to be that when i un-zipped the file  in fs downloads folder i have explorer open  and i open the aircraft folder the a/c is there but when i open that file there isnt the a/c file to move over to the other explorer a/c file .

I hope you will accept my humble apolige ,I really dont want to be a pain in the arse . This is the best of all sim websites and everybody is really on the ball. I will try and carefully readover the download instructions again

     Thanks

No need to apologise. LOL Smiley

We were all beginners once like you. I can't really figure out your problem with installing aircraft. Read the tute again & follow the instructions carefully. We all have our favourite methods & I prefer not to use the Drag & Drop method of moving files shown in the tute. Try the Right-click Cut & Paste options instead. There is no need to have 2 windows open. Make sure you're moving the files/folders to the CFS2 main directory on your hard drive (the C: drive) & not trying to paste them on to the CD.

PS. The default location for CFS2 on your HD is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 2
