Family or friends.
Being brand new, I hope I'm in the right place for this.!!
I would like to see family or friends outside a hanger when I bring my FS2004 plane home.
I have a scanner, photos of course, and have used Airport 2.6. frequently.
Is there some way I can turn my photos into APIs like the people one can download and place in the User API folder of Airport 2.6? I'm sure loads of other Simmers would like to do this too and like me would appreciate any advice.
Thanks in anticipation. Taffy.

Welcome Taffy! I am not an expert on scenery design, but you defiantly posted this question in the right forum!
I am sure somebody will answer your question soon! I for one would like to know the answer myself. I would love to put my wife and daughter in the hanger! LOL

Jawohl !! Aber meine frau ist nicht ein feltwebl. -- or something like that.
I know about the people APIs available for input via Airport 2.6. Your German looks like one of these though I've never seen this particular one before. Did you make it?
Taffy.

Yip, I made it a few months ago... I don't know where the textures are though, but I've still got the EOD file.

I was thinking the easiest way would be to repaint the textures of an existing API. You could also check out EOD from the Scenery Design page. It should be possible to create people using the same principle as trees with transparent textures.
PS. EOD home page.

That's what I did with the Soldier macro.

I've downloaded the EOD Programme. Does anyone out there have a "blow by blow" instruction on how I use it to put the missus outside my hanger?

Taffy. I think it might be best to practice repainting an existing macro first. You can change the texture name by manually editing the API file & saving it under a different name to avoid conflicts. You might find BMP2000 useful for the transparencies.

Basically to create your own macro you would use the EOD tree object. I think instructions are included in EOD Help. Make the area of the texture you don't wish to display transparent. This leaves just the outline of the person when you see it in the sim. Trees are cross-shaped when viewed from above. I think most "people" macros are simple 2D objects like a cardboard cutout.

Thanks Hagar and Stratobat.
This is new territory for me but I'll have a go at it. I may see the wife's look of relief as I make another safe landing yet !!
Thanks again.
Taffy.

Hello Saratoga,
I love the idea o.k. And you experts insist there's no magic in any of it !! Still, seeing is believing and I'm still trying.

Taffy.

Hi Chaps.
I seem to have stalled using EOD but I discovered that I could place my face onto that of a macro figure I downloaded from the net.
I used Imagetool and Adobe Photoshop. However, although it shows up in my FS Airport, (placed there using Airport 2.6), there is an annoying black block around it that wasn't there before I put my face on. Anybody got any suggestions as to how to get rid of this? I think I'm nearly there but for this. !!
