Playing around with X-plane. This program is used to test new designs by the military(it is said to be that accurate

) Since I had since a good resource I decided to modernise the Phantom. First thing I did was install more powerfull engines (I copied the stats of the F-18E superhornet engines to be realistic) I went through a series of prototype designs. I was aiming this at the export market so countries had a cheaper alternative to the EFA if they couldn't afford it.
Second I wanted it to be very manueverable so.

I tried a big delta wing and needed to verticle stabilisers to keep it steady. This proved to be difficult to handle and had poor low speed performance. The canards helped a little but inneffective at low speed.

The big step was to take the dihedral out of the tail plane and put it into the canards and wing (now high wing design) This proved very manauverable but only subsonic speeds achieved

Now we try high speed wing design. Great results with new engine for high speed (over mach 2 at low level

) but dire low speed performance, landing speed was almost 300kts.

Here is the finalised prototype ready for testing by military. It is HIGHLY manauverable in this configuration and the 20 degree sweep allows for decent low speed handling plus diedral in canards (while slightly unstable but rectified with fly by wire) means excellent AoA control. Powerful flap system means carrier operations are possible.

It also complies with air to air refueling systems.

The design is a result of all designed prototype research and incorperates all of the research. The wings can sweep back to 60 degrees and reach around mach 2.3 while retaining reasonable high maneurability. The Dihedral in the canards also re-adjusts to 0 degrees in this configeration. This needed to be done to achieve high speed stability.

I also added a reverse thrust system that uses the cold stream method to increase the STOL performance.
I have taken quite alot of time on this aircraft and the results are very good. If anyone would like to test it I would be glad to send it to them. I also would like someone to make some properly fitting textures for it because I cannot
