I want to get some modern jets, military or comercial, helos and any aircraft with ILS/VOR nav equipment for cfs2.I have looked at all the dl's available but all I see are WWII military aircraft. Will i have to import some or are there dl's available somewhere that will work.I have a scenery I built with full IFR/ILs equipment but I need a plane to try it out. Any ideas ? H_Squad maybe? Thanks

Have you looked in the CFS2 Modern Aircraft section? Start from the Newest Files & work back from there.
http://www.simviation.com/fsdcfs%5B1%5D.htm
FS2000 aircraft & most helos work well in CFS2 but obviously won't have DP files. Plenty to choose from there. You might need to re-alias the panel/sound CFG files for them to show up on the menu. You will probably need the CFS2 Jet Base File for aliasing the sound to.
http://www.simviation.com/cfs2misc1.htm
The latest FS2002 Gmax/FSDS2 models can also be tweaked to work. This is not difficult but does take a little experience. See the file posted on the above link. (How to make FS2002 Aircraft mdl work in CFS2)
I never use them myself so I'm not sure all the FS nav-aids will function in CFS2. I would think not but there should be CFS2 alternatives.

opps, thats a big >>>>DOH!<<<<<<<<
Wrong forum first and blind as a bat second.Never even saw the modern AC section. I read the tutes at Grumpys Lair about importing AC so that will help me too.My scenery came out ok after overcoming some difficulties I'm not used to from CFS1.As usual, you are a giant help.Thank you Doug

Hi Dave. Sometimes we can't see for looking.
As for the wrong forum, I can't move topics but I would have left this one right where it was.
To Ozzy.
Your scenery looks fine. You should find the CFS2 Scenery Library much more user-friendly than the one in CFS1. Check out my CFS2 Scenery Clinic if you're not sure of anything.

~S~ Ddave, all,
It should be easy enough to create your own radio stack and instrument panel which you could then include as a pop-up in any aircraft you wanted. cfgEdit should help you with this. Otherwise, I think most CFS1 gauges will work in CFS2, so you could lift something you liked from CFS1 and drop it into a CFS2 aircraft and see how it goes.
I've been creating a complete set of IFR aids (VOR/ILS) for the CFS2 Pacific theatre for all those guys who like 'hopping' and was going to include a panel for this very purpose. I've run out of steam on the IFR thing for the time being (would there be interest do you think?), but I could certainly help put a panel together for you if you need one. Give me a shout and I'll help out if I can: wily_crocodiley@yahoo.co.uk
BTW one panel I do use that comes with everything you need for IFR flight already 'fitted' is the US Navy pb4-Y bomber from Avhistory. I use this panel with my flyable AI b-24 and it works a treat! I know that it's WW2 era, but it's a real thing of beauty! Great detail and a full set of 360 degree fixed views (to make up for the lack of VC and internal views in the AI plane). The IFR stuff is in a simple serviceable pop-up - which I guess you could lift and put in any other panel you wished.

Hiya Pads! Didn't we converse at Martin Wright Graphics forum one time ?
Anyway, thanks for the reply. Here's a shot of the guages I'm missing.I thought maybe they were alaised to the c 172 but nope.Any thoughts?
You see I got the adf, knots, ils glide slope, attitude and radio stack guages but none of the other ones.Hmm.....

Hi Ddave,
Yup, we chatted at Martin Wright's forum too... are you stalking me?
From the looks of your screen shot the only problem you have is that you are missing the necessary gauges - if it was an aliasing issue I don't think you'd be able to fly the aircraft.
Have you ever done any panel editing? I can strongly recommend a freeware program called cfgEdit (
http://www.cfgedit.com/
). Assuming you have similar gauges in your gauges folder, you could use cfgEdit to replace the missing ones with some of your own.
Also, when you open the panel.cfg in cfgEdit it should tell you which gauges are missing - useful for trying to track them (or similar) gauges down in other add-on aircraft packages on SimV.
From the looks of the panel in your screenshot, I guess the gauges you're missing are likely to be from FS2000 or FS2002. If you've got these programs, simply locate the missing gauges and drop them in your cfs2/gauges folder. Otherwise it will be a case of looking for similar add-on aircraft and using the gauges that they come with - try the CFS2 Modern aircraft section on this site
Again, if you send me the files I'll be happy to see what I can do - got a couple of days off and need something to keep me out of trouble!
Cheers,
Pads

CFS2 should include most of the CFS1 & FS2000 default gauges. From your shot I suspect that you're missing 3rd party gauges.

Thanks for that - I knew about the cfs1 gauges but hadn't realised that fs2k was in there too.

Ok, I copied and pasted the Cessna guages from fs2002 and everything works now. Or at least,I can see everything. Now the problem is with the radio stack.Comm one numbers read 118.00 up to about 135.00. Thats too high. usually its 108.50 to 118.50 ( or there about, can't quite remember the top number). Comm two numbers won't show at all. Is it something to do with being "in that part of the world" or is a program malfunction or lack thereof, something I'm missing. Ideas? ???

Ddave,
I've set up a simple to install pop panel window with full IFR navigation aids and put it up on my web site:
http://uk.geocities.com/wily_crocodiley/cfs2/panels.html
It's simple, but functional (mostly... the com and exponder are really just there for show and to fill that ugly gap at the bottom
) and seems not to have the difficulties you mentioned with regard to the frequency range on Nav 1 and 2.
It works for me anyway (though I'm not sure about the dme on Nav 2 - maybe you could experiment too?)
Hope it helps,
Cheers,
Pads
