Hi,

I hope I am posting in the correct place if not I am very sorry:

I am so frustrated after spending many day's reinstalling\uninstalling and loseing a lot of addon stuff in the process, searching the net etc.

Running XP, FS2002 Std.
Everything runs fine EXCEPT when in the Default "Flight Planner" or "Map View" I can't get a listing of the Facilities Information,
ie: ILS, VOR, NDB, Runways, Frequencies!!!!

EXAMPLES:
Sitting at KORD -
World\Map View\ zoom in, double click right between runways and all I get from the Facility Information is:
"Chicago-O'Hare Intl (KORD)"
(Listed in Green Highlight)

Sitting at KLAX -
World\Map View\ zoom in, click right between runways and all I get from the Facility Information is:
"Los Angeles Intl (KLAX)"
(Listed in Green Highlight)

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

It may be a bad .bgl file.  Get the Scanner here http://www.simviation.com/fs2002utilities_gen5.htm

Hi Jim,

Immediatly upon getting your reply/suggestion I d/loaded the scanner but it found NO problems with the BGL files!!!

This is a new "Clean" installation of FS2002 Std. My Old version of FS2000 works fine, I realy do want to have/use FS20002 as my main Sim though.

This problem seems rare and unique as I have only found ONE other gentleman who has had exactly the same problem whom I contacted.
But he finaly gave up and upgraded to FS2004.

PLEASE "ANY" suggestions or advice would be welcome,
I have even considered purchasing a NEW copy again, but that seems rediculus.

Thanks in advance
Doug

PS. That BGL Scanner is a neat little utility though.

Sorry, Doug, but you have tapped the limits of my knowledge.  If you have already reinstalled and if you have ruled out any bad .bgl files I'm stumped.

You might try http://www.fsnavigator.com/ .  It creates a database from your .bgl files and it's a free trial.  Since I got it (the only payware addon that I have, BTW, being a thrifty Scot) I have never used the map function.  If you have bad .bgl files that the .bgl scanner didn't disclose this would surely tell you.

Thanks Guy's,

Yes "Saratoga" I will scond that!!! I have just had to buy a new joystick thanks to them, XP did'nt support my old FFpro.

It seems they have really got it in for me!!

JIM,
Yes I am familiar with "FSNavigator" (Trial) and do intend to purchase it as I think it's great, I just seem to have a problem installing an app/utility/addon to something that just ain't working right in the first place.

O'h by the way there Jim, I be a "Sassanack" shacking in the Sierra's He, He.

Well, Doug, I guess I'm just the luckiest computer or FS user in the world.  Everything seems to install fine or I can work out the bugs by myself or with the help of friendly forums.

The reason I suggested FSNavigator is that it builds its database on the .bgl files.  If you have corrupt .bgl files it will not be able to build a database.  Since it's a free trial you have nothing to lose.  Also, I haven't used the FS map function since I got it and when I customize panels I don't even include the map icon.  For all I know it doesn't work in mine either.

Since we have ruled out the bad .bgl files as a problem you might want to try opening the map from the ALT menu instead of the icon.

And I'm only a Scot in heritage - my family has been in the  US for about 250 years.  I don't even like their whisky.  Irish, Canadian, American - anything but Scotch!

Jim,

You are persistant and I appreciate that, but as I have a new clean installation with only the default aircraft and one "Tester" addon "F14B Tomcat" I don't use the Panel "Map" Icon.

I allways use the "ALT/Map View" route, Besides before I even fully enter and start at the "Create a Flight" ---
in Flight Planner I am still unable to get info on my destination airport - other than the airport title (see original post).

Yep, I have even installed it on another drive, I really do want to stay with FS2002.......BUT, this problem is getting to me.
I am leaning toward just shucking out another $50 to Microsoft and get FS2004 (FS9).
I just can't believe no one else has had this problem.

Thanks Doug
