HI, I am new to this forum.  I downloaded serifs free program photo plus 5.5 and am currently going through Grumpys step by step tutoral.  I have only made it to like step three and am probably am getting ahead of my self by downloading the posky 757 this early in the game, but I love that freaking jet.  It is beautiful man, and I want to make my own...   Anyway, the paint kit I downloaded from POSKY has no nose.  I tryed to become a memeber there but have not recieved my confromation e-mail yet, and when I do I'll post this question there, but for now thought I would try this site because so many people here have helped me with a lot of q's about other things.  Also is anyone familure with this serif product.  Is it any good?  When I callled to register my copy (very nice people BTW) they offered me their new version 8.8 for 50 bucks. I am really serious about this repainting stuff and wounder if I should just buy paint shop pro because that seeems to be what everyone uses.  Please help a newbie

PS tried to post the posky texture with this message and couldnt, sorry

I believe that you can download pixia from the Design utilities pages here at Simviation.

Photoshop is the graphics 'standard' - with a price to match.

Paint Shop Pro is an excellent program, with a reasonable price, useful for the professional and "amateur" alike.

I include The Corel series - including Photopaint - in the "big three" for flightsim texturing.

Having said that, pixia, Gimp! and a few other paint programs give the commercials a run for their money, with most of their features - and they're free.

I've tried some of the Serif products, and they have some features I like as well.

It's no secret that I'm partial to Paint Shop Pro - since v.1 - and I'm used to that interface, but I'm not adverse to popping a texture into another program to tweak it with a tool here and there.

For alpha channel work, I work off the compiled model with Abacus' FS Repaint! (or VASS Gold on the FSDS source file), since I can "paint" the alpha channel directly.
