Ok, I have enough money / time / inclination to buy mysekf a joystick. I saw this particular one in a Game store in town. Is it any good. My budget is £50. I would like Force feedback (If its worth it!). At the minute I have a PIII 500Mhz / NVidia Riva TNT2 ( Cry) machine and i use a GAMEPORT Sidewinder gamepad. Will getting usb help my  FS2k2 FPS, not affect it or improve it?
Many thanks, Dan G

Hi Dan,

You are really behind the eight ball with TNT2 graphics. I doubt whether your P3 rig has an AGP slot, but evn if it does, it's probly not 4x agp. A graphics upgrade would help, but you need a new pc if you are trying to run FS2004.

I don't think a USB joystick will make any difference to your frame rates.

I hope you can get a better machine somehow. Maybe a "Student needs Computer" campaign is in order lol.

Maybe. Any ideas where to advertise? All I was worried about was a decrease in FPS. Oh, what about the stick?

Well, if you can get an AGP card for your system, (if you have an AGP slot), save your money for that. You'd probly find an fx5200 for 50 quid.

A nice joystick is great if you cant upgrade your graphics.

You'll have to get creative with the "Campaign", ask your parents if they will match, dollar for dollar, whatever you can raise. You never know, and you can sell yours when you've got nearly enough dough.

Hey there!  I'm relatively new to the Flight Sim arena, but I picked up a Saitek Cyborg evo this week and I would definitely recommend it.  As for force feedback, the evo doesn't have it, but I have been told by many that the little gears in a force stick are prone to wear out in a matter of months, rendering the stick useless.  I have also created a joystick profile for flight sim 2004 that is working very well for me, if you would like to try it, PM me or send me an email (doncorleone@shaw.ca) and I will send it along.  Happy flying!
