Oh dear. What seems to be the problem with the textures - are all of them not working or is it just a few of them that don't work?

Which version of FS are you using? If you are using FS2002 that would explain it.

Hi Birdman,
Downloaded BIA and followed installation insructions in the readme file, but when i open FS9 it's still showing the default EGGD. I have placed the AFCAD and Bristol Airport files into the scenery files, i reckon its probably something i've done wrong but any help would be appreciated. By the way, what is AFCAD?

You gotta go to the scenery library and add the scenery.
AFCAD is a tool to edit/add traffic into FS

1. Enter the scenery Library via the settings screen on the main FS interface.
2. The Scenery library should have both Bristol Airport and AFCAD folders visible and ticked. If either the AFCAD and Bristol Airport box's aren't there or are unticked, add them via the "Add Area....." option.
If all is fine............. I have no Idea! Check inside the AFCAD and Bristol airport to see if there is anything in them! Try deleting the files and re-installing them.
Installation Instructions:
EDIT: Please Ignore! Follow hagars instructions lower down!
Copy the three folders contained in the "Flight Sim Folder" Folder of the unzipped download to your main FS directory - not the actual flight sim folder.
Click yes if it prompts something like 'folder may be overwritten' (don't worry it wont) as one file needs to go deep into the FS oblivion of files to prevent sinking aircraft!
Then add them from the scenery library as explained above.
Hope that works - Please bare in mind this is a tempory version and I am currently working on a replacement of most of the textures which currently are rubbish!

Hi Bird man. Hope you don't mind me interfering but I might be able to help with Sav's problem. I've been intending to try your Bristol update for some time but only just got round to it. All is working fine for me & I think you did an excellent job.
I'm not too happy with your method of installing it by overwriting folders in the FS9 main directory. This can cause problems as there's no way of knowing which files are installed where if you have problems. It's much better to paste the files/folders in manually. IMHO.
Here's how I would do it. First unzip BristolnInternationalnnAirportV2.zip to a Temp folder anywhere outside the FS9 directory. On opening the extracted folder you should see a subfolder named Flight Sim Folder. This contains 3 further subfolders named AFCAD, Bristol Airport & Scenery.
Paste the AFCAD & Bristol Airport subfolders into Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery.
Open the 3rd subfolder named Scenery until you find a file named AF2_EGGD.bgl. Paste this file into the Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\Eurw\Scenery folder.
Now run FS9 & activate the AFCAD & Bristol Airport scenery from the Scenery Library.
Click OK & Exit FS9. When you restart the sim the new scenery should display properly.
Well done Bird man.

I totally agree, but in this case I thought it was the simplest method. Do you think I could possibly use your installation instructions and pics in the next release?
Pretty Please

LOL You're welcome to use anything of mine. No need to ask.
If I had configured the file I would have put the AFCAD & Bristol Airport folders in a folder named Addon Scenery. Then if it was unzipped to the FS9 directory the files
should
all end up in their correct locations. This is never 100% certain as people all have their own methods for extracting files. It might also depend on the utility they use for extracting files & the way it's configured. Not everyone uses WinZip these days. Manual installation is always the safest method. IMHO
PS. I see no reason why AF2_EGGD.bgl in the AFCAD\Scenery folder couldn't be in the Bristol Airport\Scenery folder with the other BGL files. This would do away with the AFCAD folder altogether & make it easier to install & activate. Maybe I'm missing something as I haven't used AFCAD for FS9.

Hi Birdman,
Excellent scenery, thanks for your work. Just two problems that maybe someone can figure out. Problem
one is, all AI traffic sink about six feet up to the wings into the concrete. My own aircraft sits fine oddly enough, but AI traffic is buried. Looked for a flatten switch but...
Problem two, the default afcad has me landing about 75 yards to the right of 09. I fixed it in the afcad file, but noticed no emaill addy to send the fix to. If anyone wants it, leave an email.

Hi Carl. Glad you like it!
Both are problems to do with the AFCAD. I take it you are using FS2004. If you are using FS2002 the AFCAD included in the Scenery would be useless.
With the sinking aircraft are they lined up over the propper parking spots and Taxiways but just sunk? If they are in the correct place then It may simply be a case of restarting the sim again to allow FS to recognise it - strange I know but it happens when I make a change and have to compile.
If this doesn't work or the aircraft are parked way off where they should be then check you have installed the AFCAD's correctly.

The M$ default or Mine?
Is this using the ILS? If it is I'm afraid i'm unable to test it as I have no Idea how to use it! I would be very greatfull to any fixes etc - my email is Birdman.swsd@btinternet.com
Hope this helps,
Thanks - Birdman
PS. Version 3 is very much in developement and should be a significant improvement - If you have any requests or advice please feel free to Email. I'll be posting some screenshots soon.

Hi all, just picked up on this
I would suggest DON'T post the AFCAD files into the world scenery folders. You have a blank folder which is already activated for you ie the scenery sub-folder in ADDON SCENERY (see Hagar's pic scenery level 5) where you can put every AFCAD2 file you ever generate - all in the one place.

In my tests prior to release the only way I could solve the sinking aircraft was to do this. Not the Ideal solution I know but otherwise AFCAD seems to be unable to control the modified height.
I may be wrong though!

Good one Roger. I knew there must be a good use for that activated folder if I waited around long enough. LOL
PS. I should point out that my advice here was based on Birdman's instructions in the Readme included with his update. I have yet to investigate the use of AFCAD with FS9 & have no idea where those AFCAD files belong or work best. I was wondering if the separate AFCAD BGL in Bird man's AFCAD folder is necessary at all or simply a duplicate. Maybe you can enlighten me.

Hi Birdman,
Okay, egg on my face. I thought the extra afcad was for adding your airport to payware scenery add ons and ignored it. Once I actually READ the instructions properly and placed the extra in the Scenery\Eurw folder it solved the sinking problem.
The ILS problem remains, but I reinstalled my reworked afcad into the Scenery Addon\Scenery folder and the ILS is aligned with the runway now. Please feel free to distribute it with your airport or as a fix. I've changed nothing but the ILS alignment, so all aircraft should go where they need to be.
Thanks for the quick replies and all your help!!
If you're taking requests (hint hint) EGNT would be a neat project, or any of the Scottish majors...
Regards,
Carl
