Warning! This is a QuickTime file. So you'll need it on your PC to watch. This is the latest footage of Bob DeFords MJ100 (homebuild full-size Spitfire replica), flying with a P-51 (don't know if its a homebuild or not....)
All I can say is that 1400hp Allison V-12 sounds sweet

That is one nice site....Awesome
Did you notice the photo aircraft??
It looked to me it had a push back canopy with side by side seating.
Something that a Navion might have. I believe they were produced in 1946 to satisfy the fighter pilots who were then being discharged. It also served as a trainer for the USAF and designated L-17A. They were produced by North American Aviation, I flew in one during the early 1960's out of Kingcity, Ontario.
Thanks for the site Mark
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Oh now THAT is nice!
Man, I would sincerely love to be in one of those planes. The Mustang looks like a later J model. Is the Spit based on a Mk IX? I was wondering what the spot plane is too...

Yup, Bobs plane is indeed a replica of a MkIX.
The only obvious oddity is the three bladed prop as nearly all IXs were fitted with 4 bladed props. But this was a sensible "cheap" option as its a cut-down DC-3 prop.

Ps. Meinas, they're both single seaters, but if you can get some snaps of Bobs Spit (especially the interior, particularly the fuselage) I'd be eternally grateful

in the beginning I thought I saw a head in the back of the Mustang cockpit, Ive seen em before refitted with a back seat
edit: not having an email will make this harder to contact the fellow, I guess I will just have to stalk around the airport, I'd feel strange looking up his phone number and calling him out of the blue...
2nd edit: I probably won't be contacting the owner for another 2 weeks, right now Im in deep trouble with my school and it'll take probably another 12 days to get worked out, it
should
clear up and be ok for me, but something about the school tells me I may be right, but I'll still bite the bullet.

Hi Rifleman:
It's a shame both Maple Airport and Kingcity Airport both gone.
Sure would like to know what happened to all the records from both flying clubs?
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
