CfgEdit will work for FS2002 & FS2004. You will need to redirect the path for the FS2000 mode (from CfgEdit Options/FS Mode & Root Directory) to the FS2002 main directory.
I copied this from my reply to a similar question in the Panel Design forum.
Quote:CfgEdit will work fine for both FS2002 & FS2004 panels but as Sam discovered you have to set the path from options to the appropriate FS directory. It's not fully compatible as it can't cope with the later XML gauges introduced with FS2002. The payware version, FS Panel Studio is by the same developer & is fully FS2002/4-compatible. He would obviously prefer you to purchase this rather than use the earlier freeware version. If you like CfgEdit & are seriously interested in panel design this might not be a bad idea as it has extra features.
