Go one step further custum build this.

Dual AMD Opteron 244 (Whatever MHz that, who cares though because AMD proved MHz does not make it the fastest)
3GB 400MHz DDR RAM
ATi 9800xt
2x300GB HDD

That will kick any other comps. a$$

lol..so true, before I upgraded my parents had basically the same setup as me, and mine blew theirs out of the water in just about every area...Smiley

(They were running a gateway w/pentium, I have always ran AMD)

Anything they can do i can better.....
I think i can beat anything any company is making with that comp i mentioned above.

I can build it cheaper aswell.

Dual AMD Opteron 246 (New processor out!)
Dual Opteron Motherboard (Not a common request at your local store!)
2GB Corsair RAM   (What the hey lets blow any P4 to mars)
XP Pro (Well you need an OS!)
ATi Radeon 9800xt (HL2 included)
Sony DVD/RW (8x DVD burn, with burning software)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2(Best there is!)
Aluminum Silent case (450w PSU)(Lets make things quiet)
Full silent fan set-up (Lets make things even more quiet)
17" Iiyama TFT Pro (Top of its class monitor)
2x200GB HDD (8MB cache) (You will never run out of space)
FDD (...)

All for $2900

Made it better with more RAM and best CPU in the (public) world.  None of the Alienware comes even close not even their top of the range model which is over $3000.

With Intel unveiling their 3.4 GHz, seems the 3.2 is already outdated. Wink

Thats the thing though isn't it.

Any computer system you buy or make will always be outdated within a year even.

My real question is will this system run FS2004 on FULL graphics and settings all on high.

Thats what im aiming for.

Also is it possible to change processors later on because i was thinking of getting the Sony and in the future replacing the processor with an AMD 4GHz when that arrives (which it inevitably will)

Cheers

I would wait around abit.
AMD with its highly efficient processing power is taking it one step further and making a terahz model soon.  Intel have to redesign their processor to make it efficient because they can't just make the pipelines longer and bump the hz up, like they did with the P4.
Long pipelines= slow and ineffient for its MHz.
That is why AMD recently got the award in Europe for the fastest processor available, with its FX systems.
The new AMD processors come out in 2006 and are called AMD Fab 36.
Where Intel have seem to have given up on making a smaller transistor, AMD have already approached finalising it and i would expect that is why they are hitting teraHz in 2006 and Intel are not even close.
