Ahh tax return time.
I have fs2k2 and fs9, and will probably pick up a cfs.
Which one? Is the latest worth it or should i save the money and get an older version?
How are they compared to the non combat sims (as far as graphics and such)?

Please list the spec's on your computer so that we can better help you decide. CFS3 requires a very high end machine to run at its optimum. Even Il-2 (or Forgotten Battles) requires quite a big rig.

A rig like that makes me believe you won't do too badly with CFS3. Hell, its better than mine and CFS3 works fairly well for me.

The graphics are much better in my opinion. If you like flying low then get CFS3. CFS2 is much more a high flying combat over the ocean kinda game so when your over land and down low its not really that good. The effects are better in CFS3 too, and you can survive midair collisions and collisions with the ground (sometimes). Which is nice. I would personally go for CFS3.

I fly IL2 Forgotten Battles, and I love it, I own both IL2 and CFS3, and prefer IL2 by far. I don't really have a high end machine and IL2 runs fine on it with the graphics at max, the only slowdown is when it gets really busy on screen. Compared to CFS3 that has stuttering all the time.
I run:
P4
1.6 Ghz
512 MB RAM
64 MB Nvidia GeForce 2 MX400
40 GB Hard Drive

From a personal point of view, a well stocked install of CFS2 beats CFS3 hands down, and it will run superbly on your machine, considering my system specs, I still get stutters with CFS3 that really spoil the experience....
Theres some superb add-ons for both, along with the downloads here @ SimV, you must take a look at
http://www.groundcrewdesign.com/index.htm
Ultimately, I'd say the best option is to get both.

That's a good suggestion! However if you can only get one Combat Flight Simulator than get CFS3
. My computer is about half as good as yours and CFS3 runs fine at 85%.
