Alright,it's slowly getting interesting. This is just a standard "night" flight to an airfield (longyear) ,which is pretty far north (about 78°). This will be the point from where I'll try to reach the mysterious "pole". But first a few hours of boredom. I almost fell asleep because of the constant humming of the 680s engines ,the darkness around me and the reddish cabin illumination of the "Com". Fortunately,I could refill my coffee supplies in Hammerfest and with some other things to keep me awake (self-slapping,matches in the eyelids,etc...Grin) I survived the trip in a quite good condition. Wink

Enough talking...

First,the map:
...

Preparing for take-off...
...

Airborne and heading north.
...

Hey,the sun sends me a greeting!
...

But she's gone quite soon. Darkness has me back again. Damn!
...

The usual sight: Stars above...
...

...clouds and an all black ocean below. Booooring!
...

A light! A light in all the darkness! Yay!
...

This should be the runway of Longyear. Umm...I actually expected a dark, small runway...
...

..but this seems to be a medium-sized regional airport! Wtf?
...

I was quite curious what sense this airport may have...
...

...but I first have to shut down my "Com".
...

You don't want to believe what i saw on that airport...medium sized hangars and Learjets!
Alright, alright, let me see...Learjet+remote airport+big storage buildings (for food?) = ELVIS! Shocked Grin

Nevertheless,I talked to the airport's administrator, who offered me a nice bed and some food and I prepared myself for the "Big show"...

Great shots and great story so far.

But really...ELVIS? I was hoping he would never return, and yet you found his hiding place Wink
