Soul singer James Brown was arrested yesterday on domestic violence charges, and was due to appear for a bail hearing today.
Brown, 70, known as the Godfather of Soul, was previously accused in 1995 of beating his wife, Adrienne. He served a two-and-a-half-year sentence for drug and assault charges from 1988.
In 1998 he was convicted of a drug offence, but was granted a pardon by his home state of South Carolina in May.
