My friend and I wish to fly Allied medium / heavy bombers with him as the pilot and myself as the bombardier/navigtor. We have purchased CFS3 and IL-2 FB, and neither of these seem to allow one human to fly and another to bomb. $80 later I'm pretty aggravated about it, but is there perhaps a mod for CFS3 (or any other game) that will allow this?

CFS3 apparently only allows the pilot to bomb - the other player(s) must man gunnery positions, which is not what we want.

We'd really like to have access to the B-17 and B-24, and bonus points for a working Norden bombsight and / or requiring real navigational skills to reach the target and get home.

Thanks.

As of now youre out of luck, would be nice having a bombadier that didnt have to be the pilot. Hopefully someone somewhere can figure this out. But then you wrestle with 2 people having control of the aircraft and who knows how CFS3 would react to that .

Well, if you consider that a bombardier needs to be in control of the aircraft so as to line up with the target having a different person to be the pilot is a bit silly in a sim. On the bomb run the pilot has no control over the aircraft and the same goes for CFS3. Wink

Not sure about the Luftwaffe but on the Allied side this is only true for aircraft fitted with the Norden Bombsight used on the B-17. I'm not sure this was fitted to other US aircraft.

On all RAF aircraft the pilot retained control of the aircraft. The bomb aimer directed him on to the target verbally before dropping the bombs.

Nothing silly about it as long as there is a switch to swap control.

So at any one time you either have a pilot or a bombardier sitting like a vegetable when he could be manning a gun. Roll Eyes
