I am the first to admit I dont have the highest powered system around and want to get the most bang for the buck i.e. fps.
My processor is only 1.3
my vidio card is a 64 meg
and I only have 126 ram
I am not happy with my frame rate especially when flying multiplayer. Would I be better off buying a 126 video card or...
buying a bunch more ram up to 512 or something.
The point I dont understand is what does the most work, the video card or the ram when it comes to fps?
thanks
tom
There I was, running out of ideas, fuel, altitude and airspeed all at the same time.......you might call it a bad day.

errr GET RAM!!!!!!!!
FS9 uses about 300MB of ram itself, plus background applications, and the OS itself... Getting another vid card will get you framerates, but ram will get about a 150% increse of performance!
I am somwhere I don't know where I am!!!&&

What do you mean better performance if you are not talking about fps?
My question was that I want better fps.......so should I be looking at video card or more ram?
thanks

The video card and the CPU do the work, the RAM provides working space.
You didn't say what 64mb video card you have, it may be adequate.
For FS9, (if that's what sim you have), Your PC is deficient in all three areas.
Firstly, get some RAM, (as long as you aren't planning an upgrade soon.) Your whole system is starving for it.
Depending on the 64mb card you have.... it may be wiser to opt for a CPU upgrade if that's possible.
If your video card is GF2 MX or less, Get a new video card.
If you are serious about using the sim a lot, and want good graphics, save your money for a major upgrade.
Hope this helps.
