No, the abomb does not air burst. I do not believe this weapon function is supported in CFS3, however the damage radius is based on an airburst so the end result is basically the same.

You have the choice to use the Grand Slam against a sub pen, and do not have to stick to what was done historically. Some buildings were so well protected they could actually survive a direct hit from a Tallboy. I think if some of those raids were done over, they may have opted for the Grand Slam if they were available.
Scott.
Even the sub pens at Hamburg remained standing after a Grandslam attack. The point is that the building its self might survive but it would be completely destroyed on the inside. It was said that a near miss by a Tallboy or Grandslam would be more effective than a direct hit due to the fact that it would weaken and possibly destroy the foundations to the building. Therefore causing it to fall down.

Can I ask what an 'airburst' is ???. Originally I thought you meant a blast wave type of thing but When using standard bombs in CFS3 you usually get flipped if your too close to the explosion.
Also, wasn't the Granslam bomb designed to penetrate the Big Dams that the Dam Busters took out?

An airburst is when the bomb detonates before hitting the ground. The Hiroshima bombs were set to detonate at about 2000 feet I believe. I assume this was to make the most of the blast radius, as no doubt buildings would have slowed it down and lessed the damage.
The Upkeep mines were used on the dams. The grandslam was a deep penetration "earthquake bomb" used to decemate any building you care to name.
