I posted here because of what I saw on their website and Mega Scenery New York was nothing like the great detail I saw in their California version of Mega Scenery. I felt it was necessary to blow up their spot!

Well now that it has been explained that this program does nothing to improve the detail of the scenery and all that it does is take objects and put them in their geographical position as per satelite imagery. Then it really wasn't nothing to Hoop Da la over!

Its only in your mind, strong mind, strong soul and nobody can take that from you!

What's not impressive?  Are you judging it by the quality of this persons screen shots?  Didn't it ever occur to some of you guys, that simply the difference in the REAL scenery that is being "photographed" might be the big factor as to why this version is so disappointing?  There isn't anything the MegaScenery designers can do about the "natural" scenery they are dealing with.  New York and Los Angeles are two completely different cities, and naturally, look a bit different from above.  New York is relatively flat and contains a lot of concrete and building sturcture.  Not too exciting!  One of the highlights of the So Cal scenery is the diverse landscape, ESPECIALLY the moutainouse regions.  I live in California, and therefore relate to the California scenery much more than New York where I have never been.  I am not saying that the New York scenery is exactly stunning...I'm just saying that might simply be caused by the New York landscape itself.

I understand that NY is not as exciting as California.  I made my decision based on the pics at the official website for the scenery, and these pics back up what I saw on that site.  The textures are not as clear nor are they as vivid colorwise as the first version.  Take the highways for the biggest example.  They were much more pronounced in the first version and they actually showed a bit of depth in the way they were shaded.  It just looks like this scenery was rushed.

These are from their site.  Look at the difference in clarity.

Your shots are good, but that scenery is not at all a good add-on. It looks like they just let a 5 year old play around with Gmax, or FSSC, or whatever they used to make it Angry Angry

Im just curious...are you sure you have all the display settings the same in both screen shots?  I ask because I noticed you have water effects on in the New York shot, but off in the So Cal shot.  I would think its possible that could effect terrain quality...I dunno, try to keep consistent if you are going to compare.

Those are not my shots Silver.  Those are linked off of the official site from the product.  I would imagine they kept the settings at there recommended levels for both as they are the ones trying to sell it.
