THG has current test results of RAM with CL timings from 3.0 to 2.0 for Pentium and AMD CPU's. See the Memory Timing article. Mostly high end CPU's but did include AMD 3200.
Results show virtually no difference in the AMD 3200 going from CL3.0 to 2.0. Basically CL doesn't add much to performance except in a few areas. A different conclusion than THG has been saying in graphics card performance tests about RAM.

I tested ram timings my cptr, Kingston PC2100 CL2.0.
Test was P38 free flight 10k with turns of plus/minus 90 degrees and observing fps. Virtual cockpit 3US.
Timings are listed in order of importance:
Optimal (Normal) 2,3,3,6 fps 35 avg.
Turbo, 2,2,2,5 fps 39 avg.
Subjective because fps will vary then steady in turn.
The lower Turbo settings resulted in fps steadying out quicker and higher than the higher Optimal CL settings.

Well my pc runs sweet on the cl2 timings.. 6-2-2-2. and benchmarking shows a clear bandwidth increase.
I might also add that my Kingston "Value Ram" was not designed for that speed, but defaults at cl2.5, but it runs at cl2 with no obvious faults until the system is overclocked a fair bit, where it's not as stable as , perhaps, the very expensive overclocker's ram.
The above holds true for both my AMD and P4 rigs.
Mainboard: Asus P5K-Premium, CPU=Intel E6850 @ x8x450fsb 3.6ghz, RAM: 4gb PC8500 Team Dark, Video: NV8800GT, HDD: 2x1Tb Samsung F3 RAID-0 + 1Tb F3, PSU: Antec 550 Basiq, OS: Win7x64, Display: 24" WS LCD

I see that Kingston Value CL 2.0 RAM doesn't have the clock speeds of the more expensive Corsair RAM other than the first value 2.0. I don't see any stability problems pushing the envelope.
