For those of you that haven't seen it yet, here's the excellent new freeware F-14.

...
Take off. Great weather for it this evening.

...
Picking up speed and climbing rapidly.

...
Wings swept back, punch in the reheat!

...
Up really high, it's very dark this many miles up!

...
Scoping for my target, ready to dive in.

...
Just overflown my "target" at mach 1.5.

...
Heading back to base, get the beers ready!

Go get it over at No nodes!

Comments welcome.

Thanks guys for the comments.

I've had no problem with the effects so far, are you sure you have your "effects detail" set to high, and "number of lights" set to 9?

I will look into that Ric,

For some reason now when I start the simulation, sometimes there are no afterburner effects, but when I switch to the cockpit veiw and push the throttle full, then return to the spot plane veiw, the effects are there!  ??? I will look into that!

Ah, ok.

This could be to do with the "null zone" on your joystick throttle.

Go to your joystick settings and make the throttle null zone zero, ie, maximum sensitivity on the throttle axis.

It sounds to me like your throttle never reaches 100% (or 0%) thrust, so the burners won't appear, as they are tagged as an effect to appear above a certain throttle setting (90%+ I think).

Try this and see if it works, if not, we can try something else! Grin
