I thought to myself, "its gotta be shagged",  as I examined my prospective purchase, sitting on a paste table at my local boot sale! - £10 it said on the tacky sticker, I offered £2 we compromised at £5 and I got a free copy of "European Air War" (!) - already got it but never mind.....

I never really thought it would work, but had use for the psu with my M$ wheel so thought I'd not wasted money if the stick itself was buggered or the FF bit did'nt FF....
Got the thing home, plugged it into the game port , installed drivers and bounced / shook myself off a carrier in CFS2 taking off!  Cheesy The best £5 I've spent in a long time, check your local boot sales I say!

Bargain of the week or what?  Grin

Next week, I'm off to seek out an FX5950 for 50p ........  Grin

If you do you can get one for me aswell! Perhaps in about five years time they will sell 256MB graphics cards in buckets for £2 like the 2MB ones!

Wow! good buying.  Cheesy

I still can't get my gameport MS FFB stick to work on either of my 2 systems, they both have AC97 sound codec on the m/b, and it doesn't want to fire up.... Cry

I saw your signature about the benchmark in 3dmark.

They are accurate. I'd be trying to diagnose the problem.

Mind you, my 43.51 driver scores over 1000 pts better than the latest driver...... so maybe it could be a driver difference?

Another thing, my P4 rig should have scored better than my AMD but it didn't, I thought maybe the nVidia chipset/drivers might handle the AGP bus better than the Intel 865 chipset/driver combo...... but I don't really know.

I think the benchmark is extremely dependent on the graphics card to the extent thet the Prossesor is almost completely irrelavent..... Is there a benchmark which measures your core system speed? Aida32 has a simple memory read/write benchmark which might be one to have a look at....

get me such a stick,too.

my new thrustmaster's not quite that what i've expected. okay,it was second choice, but is that really an apology for an insane y-axis and the shocking stuff not working?
and today,i ripped off a cable of the y-axis's sensor...have to repair it...Tongue Sad

p.s: can't send it back, because i've already fiddled around in its interior...silly me! Sad

Bird man,

SiSoft Sandra has a good CPU benchmark, among other things.

CPU speed is, however, VERY relevant to Graphics benchmarking. But this needs to be qualified.....

For instance, if you have a couple of very fast systems, say, a 3.2 gig P4 and a 2.4 gig P4, and you whack an old GF2 mx400 in them, you won't see any difference in the benchmark because the old GF2 just maxes out on both systems.

But if you throw the latest Video card in the machines, the 3.2gig P4 will really show much better results..... this is why it's important to choose components that are "matched" for the system.
