Hi People,

I sent an e-mail the other day to the Webmaster of this site in relation to a Texture release for the Cessna Citation Aircraft, heading reference:

Civil Jets:  FS2004 Cessna Citation II YV550CP Transload Airlines Connect.

This set of two textures was posted without my, or the Virtual Airlines proprietor's consent or knowledge.

Just wondering how I can have these textures removed and if this site's administration can please identify to me the person that published/released these textures.

Not on a witch hunt, just want to find out how/why they were released and to clear up any loose ends that may have lead the publisher to think that he/she could release these textures without appropriate acknowledgments and consents.

Regards and thanks in advance.

Garry, my advice would be to contact Pete, who runs this site.  He's VERY strict about this sort of thing, and my guess is he'd be very helpful.  I don't wanna speak for him, but I know that he doesn't accept this type of behavior at all....(nor do most of the people who visit!)

Thanks Scott,

I sent an e-mail to the Webmaster yesterday but have not seen a response as of yet from that mail - the "Webmaster" was the only e-mail address that I could find on the main site.

Forgive my ignorance, but is there a quick e-mail address for "Pete" somewhere so that I can contact him direct.

Again thanks Scott, and I am sure that Simviation is as strict as the other sites when it comes to issues like this when they are brought to their notice.

For validation that the textures previously exist then please visit:
http://www.transloadairlines.com

Go to the Connect Division Navigation area on the LEFT and select Fleet.

Not sure about an email address, but you can instant message him by clicking on his name anywhere on the forums that you see it.  The name he goes by on this site is (ironically enough) "Pete".

Thanks Mate,

Found "Pete" and checked his profile and his e-mail is webmaster@simviation.com, and he is offline at the moment so I guess that he has not yet had a chance to read and responde to my e-mail reference this matter that I sent the other day.

I was hoping on a swift removal of this texture post but I acknowledge that people have a life and that they are not online and monitoring all of the time Grin

I just have to be patient.  Smiley

Please forgive my ignorance, but why are you wanting this removed?  I understand it's a virtual airline, but why would you want to keep it out of the hands of your fellow simmers?  I just downloaded and checked it out and it's a nice paint scheme.  It sure would be a shame if this file was made unavailable.  Sharing is what flight simmers can always prop up their pride on.  I wish you'd reconsider. Wink  Maybe you could repost it with your copyright info after it gets removed? Roll Eyes

AHHHH, but when the company is good it is always hard to leave.  And Simviation has a great bunch of patrons and participants in their forums.

One of the better international Flight Sim sites and forums and I have seen a few in my time. Wink

Where the problem comes in is that in most freeware makers post a "readme" file that will sometimes say "dont upload this or change it etc.. with out my permission". Some one ignors it and uploads it and takes credit for it. Some have ended up on payware. Its more a gentlemens agreement in most cases.

Garry has very right to upset, and to request its removal.

Hi jubjub47,

Sorry but you miss the point - the textures are available from Transload Virtual Airlines.  The perogative of where textures, aircraft, scenery etc are released from is normally the right of those who created them.

The reason that the ones in question should be removed is that they were published without consent and the post implies that someone else did the artwork.

They also did not seek permission from myself or the Virtual Airline to publish these texture through an alternative source.

Most of my texture work is normally published either through my site http://www.gjsmith.net or through the VA airline sites that has commissioned textures for their needs.

Occassionally I release a texture set through a site like Simviation but use that opportunity to generate interest in the hundreds of textures that I have available through my site or to encourage other painters to also release textures through sites like these.

Plus, when you've reached the level that Garry has, and you're that well known and respected throughout the hobby, people shouldn't disrespect your talent like that. Wink

Thanks for your kind words Scott,

I like to think that we should not abuse anyones efforts, good bad or indifferent,  and always apply curtesy, respect and acknowledgement for other peoples work across the whole spectrum of the Flight Sim hobby.

The majority of simmers follow the "Gentlemens" concept of aircraft, textures, scenery etc releases and a very small number abuse it occassionally, intentionally or unintentionally, and as long as we stamp on those digressions quickly and effectively then we can keep the hobby enjoyable for all.

Regards and thanks again for your kind words.

Garry,

I was not implying that you didn't have a valid argument.  It may have sounded as if I was.  I was under the impression that the files was not shared or to be shared period.  I didn't know that you kept the file available for download from your site.  It would be great to see some more of your work show up on the larger upload sites though.  They definetely reflect the hard work you've put into them. Cheesy Grin

You (people in general, not you jubjub) may or may not remember the excellent panels that John "FS Tipster" Consterdine uploaded exclusively to SimV and which were immediately appropriated by a website whose name we do not mention here.

John wanted to do something special for his friends.  He didn't charge anything for his panels, which are as good as any payware panels I've seen.  He just wanted people to come to SimV if they wanted to get his panels.

I agree completely with Garry and I respect his right to place restrictions on his uploads.  I also appreciate our mods taking prompt action to remove it in accordance with his wishes.

I have some of Garry's aircraft.  There are tons of them available on his website.  Since he didn't post a link to it I won't either but if you go to a small amount of trouble you will easily find it.  (Hint: Click on his profile)

Hi JubJub47 and WebbPA,

I appreciate your kind words about my textures etc and understand your outlook.  However, I learned a long time ago to publish my textures through my own site so that I would no longer be accused of favouritism to any particular site.

Some sim sites graciously allow me to advertise my texture site occassionally and I have always been grateful for those site administrators tolerating my little plugs every now and again.

WebbPA  - I will be a little bolder and highlight my latest FREE texture that is available on my B777-MJ page of my site (she is down at the bottom of the page)

...

Sorry for the blatant plug - but feel free to browse my catalogue and see if there is anything there that suites your needs.

Regards and again thank you gentlemen for your support.
