To Charlie,
Thanks for the information on the Belfast. Will check that out.
To Stratobat (Do bats fly that high?) - only kidding.
Yes, I have both CFS & CFS 2 and fly them regularly. I have downloaded quite a few additional for both and most will work in FS2002. The only one I really had problems with was the Thunderbolt until I found the Blue Camoflage version which works fine.
The interesting ones were the Vulcan in CFS (which flies great) and the B17 which again flies fine.
I had a lot of help from Doug Attrell in getting some of the Falklands missions to work although I am still stuck in some of the Korea stuff. Aircraft carriers sailing through green vegetation and airfields turning up green in and around the seas. Oh well, you cant win them all. I`m still learning (the hard way)
Regards all

Stephen. You might not realise that Doug, Hagar & Grumpy1 are all the same person.
I suggest the problem with the Korean missions is that you have not installed/activated the 3rd party scenery correctly. I've been involved with the Korean campaigns for both CFS1 & CFS2 & personally configured them for posting. In both cases all required scenery is included. I prefer not to post missions/campaigns that involve downloading elements separately.

Hagar, Doug, Grumpy
OOPS, now the penny drops. There I am spelling out to the world how helpful Doug has been only to find out I am praising him in person. Well, it was well intentioned Doug. I have been missing out on these forums because I forgot my password and the webmaster had some difficulty but I managed to re-register. I must try not however to take up people`s time or the site`s valuable space. I will look into the Korea anomalies and try to rectify that. Thanks to everybody for their help and I see the thread is now up to two pages so I think I had better call it a day before I get a zero doing a fly-by the house.

Hi Stephen
Welcome to the forum
I haven't been here too long myself, but there are lots of nice people around.
I only just read your post. All the answers seem to be here. I was going to help on the Hastings, Belfast and Varsity, but you have that info now. Also Rick P has done a nice Valetta if you are interested............
The Anson has been requested a few times by different people. I wonder if some-one will do a nice one for FS2002/4?
Cheers Paul

Hi Paulb,
Nice to meet you. Yes, I agree, there are a nice lot of people on this site.
Honestly, I had forgotten about the old Valetta. I was in the air force for 12 years and a lot of that time in the Middle East. Now you mention the old crate I remember going from Aden up to Bahrain in a decrepit old Valetta full of the big brass at the time (all but myself and another `lower class`). I remember we hit a sandstorm and we were being tossed all over the place. The Pilot (a Flight Lieutenant) came out and said, sorry everybody, cant get any higher than 8,000 so you will have to put up with it. We didnt have a choice did we, we couldnt get out and walk. What was surprising was the number of `brass` that couldnt keep their sandwiches down!!!
Ought to mention that each time I try Rick P site I get the 404 error.
Everybody, my FS2004 arrived today. Now I have to install it and see how many of my 520 other aircraft will work in it. See you all in 2009

Hi Charlie (and everybody). Yep, that`s what I worked it out at. Been downloading for 3 years or so. I am now desperate to find something I havnt got!!
Now, this may not be the best place to post this next point but as I seem to have got to know you all quite well I thought I would pick your brains on this forum.
My FS2004 (which is in Windows Explorer as FS9) is up and running. Not quite so happy with it though. I have cut and pasted all my 3rd party aircraft into FS2004 in one foul swoop. There are just one or two FS5 (converted); a fair number of FS98, 2000 and 2002. I am now starting to try them out and finding messages coming up that the aircraft I am trying to load is incompatible and running them in FS2004 may cause FS2004 to be unstable. Another aircraft and many many messages saying unable to load guages - that kind of thing. Am I really making more problems for myself by using these aircraft - should I archive all these aircraft in case I want to go back to FS2002 and just download 2004 aircraft/guages for use in 2004 or can I overcome so of these problems? One thing I noticed when trying to fly one aircraft (after ignoring the messages) was that the movement of horizon and scenery etc was very jerky (sometimes movements seem to be in spasms). What do you guys reckon?

Hi Stephen
Well, I guess that the first thing to note is that only aircraft made in FSDSV2 or G-max work properly in FS9. Knowing what tool was used to make the aircraft is usually a case of trial and error ( ie does it work properly or not
). However, generally FS2000 and earlier aircraft are not fully FS9 compatible. FS2002 aircraft often are compatible, but earlier ones are usually not compatible.
In my experience, imcompatability usually extends to the flight dynamics, lack of moving parts on the aircraft (often appearing invisible) and gauge problems.
So far I have not caused any major systems problems for myself trying out the older aircraft - but others may be able to add their experiences......
My advice would be to generally restrict yourself to compatible aircraft in FS9, if only because they will work better
Cheers Paul

Hi Stephen. I missed this somehow. To add to Paul's comments I think installing everything in one go is a very bad idea. I would always recommend doing this one at a time, checking each one out in the sim before trying the next. This would obviously take forever with the sheer number of aircraft you're talking about. Not too many are likely to be compatible with FS2004 & I suspect you will end up dumping most of them anyway. You can forget the FS5, FS98 & FS2000 aircraft + some earlier FS2002 models.
