??? What's that smell?
While flying online in CFS2 last night I did smell something horrible.... a quick "something's burning, bye" in the chat box and I held the power button in for 4 seconds until the power shut down....... no time for a system shutdown!
Well, that's the second PSU in 9 months, so today I obtained a 450watter instead of a 350watt PSU.
After some wavey graphics and lots of error messages and resetting my bios to safe defaults, more errors trying to boot windows etc............. It finally came back to life and appears normal.
I only have 2 cd roms and 1 hard disk, (seven fans all up: 3 case fans, CPU fan, Video card fan, northbridge chip fan, and the one in the PSU. The fans don't draw a lot, especially the small ones.
I guess they don't make them like they used to. (PSU's)
I feel very lucky this incident didn't fry my system. Last time, I saw burn marks on my PCI card's connectors so 240 had jumped onto my mainboard I suspect, it's been running fine for 6 months since.
