Here's the story:

The Continental Airlines plane was nearly full when it slid off a taxiway at Hancock Airport just after ten o-clock this morning. The flight was headed to Newark, New Jersey when the pilot lost control just after leaving the gate. No one was hurt a bit, but it did try the patience of vacationers headed for warmer climates. They lost a few hours of leisure time after their twin-engine jet, taxi-ing out for takeoff this morning, slipped off the pavement and ended up nose-down in a mix of snow and mud. They were never in any danger, but it took a while to get other flights briefly delayed and get a bus out to the plane to get passengers back to the terminal.

Jason Streeter, passenger: “We knew we were moving a little, taxing out to the runway or whatever and then you could tell the wheels were spinning and then it just stopped. They said it was zero visibility and we were going to have to wait until it cleared up. About ten minutes passed and they're like, we're stuck. When we actually got off the plane was when we realized we were off the runway.”

Clearly, some people don't know how to spell, and some people knoow nothing about aviation, but you get the general idea. Wink

P.S. It is fricken freezing here...about a -17 windchill, and tommmorow night is supposed to be -27 8)

Yep, that was an ERJ145. Last night the emergancy crews where all over Ithaca-tompkis regional airport(kith) because a Dash-8  was reading red for the gear. They got the gear down and green a few minutes before landing. I bet that made for a few tense moments for the passengers.
