Mr. Bones,
I think you are wrong as I do listen to a lot of dance-trance-techno as well as a lot of rap, hip hop and reggae. Just wondering, what is wrong with dance-trance-techno ???. There are a lot of people in my area listening to that. Also I don't have playlists because I always play music on my stereo but mainly yeah, that's what I listen to Rap, techno, trance, dance, hip hop, R&B and reggae and a little bit or rock too but only Linkin park, Evanesnense and Nickleback. Don't listen to old stuff especially if it is rock because I personally think it's got barely any modern music/sounds/bass and no digital effects or anything like that. I am a modern type of person I guess, rap, hip hop, trance, dance, reggae is my style Cheesy Sorry guys Tongue.

Electronic effects and whizzy noises will never stand up playing an instrument skillfully. Rap just doesn't show musical skill to me. It is more like poetry to a beat.

true musicians are those who can do more than one type of music,,
Kid rock in my opinion is the most underrated musician, i have seen, he can do everything from Rap to rock, country to pop. heavy metal to slow soppy songs.
sadly apart from america he isnt doing to well.

PeteTLUK,
I understand what you mean but it takes a lot of skills to make music and lyrics. And what's wrong with making music on electornic keyboards and stufff like that, like most rappers or techno/trance artists do? It is still an instrument if I remember correctly and still takes skills to play it and making lyrics to the beat.  A lot of younger people (teenagers mostly) now prefer something that has more electronic sounds/effect so maybe. Maybe it is just in big cities, I don't know. Where I live there is probably more rap than rock but in Europe (at least where I have been) the most popular music in 1999 (the last time I have been to Europe) was actually pop, techno, trance and eurodance followed by heavy rock or alternative. Some people just say that we are in 2004 and not in 60's when there was no technology or electronic equpment. It may sound weird to some but to me it seems pretty logical. I might be wrong but it is just my opinion guys Wink

I'll respect your opinions, however there was electric equipment in the 60's. Also RAP was never about the music, but the lyrics and a lot of Dance s*** are covers of 80's tracks and so it dosn't take to much "skill" on the part of the "Artist" to speed t up, add an electro beat, and package it as their own Roll Eyes

They are skilled poets if you like but to me Rap just isn't music and unless you can play these electronic thingies live then I don't its all that great I do music technology and it is not that hard to put things together on a computer. In fact one Rap artist used one of the pre recorded demos that we have on our keyboards at college in his music (he didn't even write the tune Undecided )

I know we have alredy discussed this but why is that most of your guys do not like rap or euro? I always thought that rap is popular in USA and a lot of people in where I live listen to that as well as techno, eurodance and raggea. Or is it just in big cities where rap is the most popular?
