I took these pics this morning on my way home from work.  The AN-2 was damaged during a tornado here in Oklahoma City last spring.  From the stories I've heard the tie downs broke, the aircraft did a 180 and was pushed about 50 yards backwards into a row of hangers.  The tail is pretty bad also.  Haven't heard if they are going to scrap it or try to rebuild.  I all I believe there were about 2 dozen aircraft damaged that night, along w/ a few hangers.

The Douglas A-26 "Lady Liberty" in the last pic has only been flown a half dozen times in the past 32 months.  They keep having problems w/ those huge radials.

The AN-2 does look rather sorry for itself. However, I've seen much worse. I'm sure it's possible to rebulid it. As always, this depends on the cost & whether the owner thinks it's worth doing. If this isn't so I suspect it would have been scrapped before now.

Yes...the aircraft are in sad shape.

I would hope that if the owner/owners decide to scrap which I don't believe they will as it is up to the insurance company,  that an organization such as a museum or flying club would come forward with the option to purchase.

Cheers....Happy Landings....Doug Smiley

Good news about the AN-2....the owners came out yesterday and removed the damaged wings and hauled them off for repair.  Now I need to find out what they are going to do to repair the crushed tail.
