I'm thinking of buying this video card - can any of you wizzkids let me know if I'd be wasting my oh-so limitted funds?

The card is the Creative GeForce FX5600XT 256MB DDR AGP DVI VO and my PC is an AMD 1.4ghz with 256mb ram.

Huge thanks to anyone who can advise!!

Ian

It's probably a good card for your system, your CPU is weak by present standards so the very expensive Cards will be held back.

But, I think the XT's are slow versions of a good card, so you will be much better off if you get the FX5600 ULTRA model (the 128mb one).

A 128mb ultra card will kick butt over a 256mb XT card.

I saw the ultra at Pricewatch.com for $99

If you're in the money spending mood, I'd also consider a RAM upgrade to at least 512...IMO.  It can actually be done for a relatively small amount.

Great edit, Bob.&&&&&&Google it. &&&&www.google.com

EEEEEK!    Lips Sealed

I just saw some benchmarks that make the 5600 look sick next to the 5700. Better have another look.
