My Humble Opinion

I bought CFS3 the day it hit the shelves but I wasnīt really able to play it because
of  all the stutters anb bad framerates although my system tripled the minimun specs..
until I upgradet to a radeon 9700 and BINGO! It was running fine with most of the sliders
maxed (some minor stutters though).
I was wondering why people either seem love or hate it , since I think it is not that bad...
& not that good !!
So  I think itīs time to summarize my personal PRO`s & CONīs...
First the looks :
The clouds are pretty good ( not as nice as FS9 or IL-2 , but nice) ,
AND as far as I know and experienced you can hide in them   BIG PLUS!!!
The ground scenery is in my opinion so so , the facilities are OK to me ,
the autogen elements are ridiculously STUPID!
Europe is no covert by conifers that are twice as tall as the buildings,
and I donīt think anyone has ever seen towns and cities  that resemble the ones
in this game . The houses should be two or three times as big (they are usually
too small in flightsims..) and as far as I can recall most of the european cities
have large building blocks with yards in the middle ( hell! Even European Air War
got it right! It is still one of the great flight sims in my opinion!)
anyway , the ground textures are to fuzzy the water is a wee bit strange and I miss
flack searchlights...
For those who own Il-2FB it is kinda disappointing. And it is a disgrace for a flightsim
that is focused on ground attack!!!! BY the way in 1943 most of the cities have already
been struck by bombs and should have a number of damaded and destroyed city parts
in it.The damage model of the facilities is kinda weird , I was flying in quick combat
over London in a 109 and the britsh flak took down the Tower Bridge , The Tower and
The Houses of Parliament simply by shooting at me.
I canīt say much about the flight models since I am not a pilot and neither are most of
us . It seems good to me as well as the damage model of the planes (1% planes seem
to be better but the stock models are fine for me).
I would like to see some effect of the gun recoil on the flight model and a shaking
cockpit.
The dynamic campain and the role playing elements are a great idea and a big
improvement to the genre (maybe future sims have some kind of storyline included)
Thats all for now since I havenīt finished any of the campains I canīt say anything more.
All in all its OK the way it comes out of the box(for those with a matching computer) , it is
a lot of fun with all the addons of the numerous contructors (Thank You All!!!!!!!!)
and it could have been great...
but it isnīt!

P.S. For those who disagree I know this is highly subjective and yes I actually
favor Il-2 Forgotten Battles but I wouldnīt want to miss either one of the sims
and sorry for any mistakes but english is not my first language,
And a happy new year to all of you!

I only recently got CFS3 to run even though my system specs far out did the minimum specs. However after a new card it runs just fine for the most part with sliders at 4 and 5. I did my share of CFS3 knocking in the past but its growing on my slowly now. Some things still bug me, mostly little details like incorrect loadouts (underwing droptanks on Spitfires, incorrect location of .50cal machine guns on Spit IXe) and I mostly only fly correctly repainted or third party addon planes as I don't like the coloured bands on the stock models.
The lack of compatibility with other M$ sims is a big dissadvantage. One of the things that makes CFS2 so good and so long lived is the fact that you can add new stuff from other M$ sims and designers are turning out new stuff all the time. CFS3 addons are only now slowly coming along.
For me, CFS2 is still the best combat sim I ever brought and will remain so for some time yet, but CFS3 is making a case for second best. Lets hope, even though M$ seem certain to stick with the CFS3 engine, that CFS4 fixes some of the bugs and proves to be the sim we all wanted when we brought CFS3.

I have tried CFS3 many times. I HATED IT. Undecided

Whenever I play online in CFS3, the aircraft seem to warp and fly sideways with a TON of stutters and lag.

IL-2: FB in my honest opinion IS the best. Those Europeans know how to make a good game. To me, it's no disappointment at all.

I never owned CFS2. Therefore, I cannot comment on it. However, after seeing numerous screenshots of it, I easily began to hate it because the visual models and the damage effects seem primitive and the scenery seems a bit odd. Because of that, I don't trust CFS2.

You have just said the very reason why I feel so 'shafted' by MS on this sim..MS 1 & 2 are good sims, although for it's day MicroProise EAW was the best without a doubt, but only after the add-ons from 'Meatwater' etc...So when CFS3 came out I fell for the fact of 1 an 2 had been very good, so this one would be even better...How wrong can you be..I really felt like Bill Gates had got hold of me and stuck a red hot poker up the rear end if you know what I mean !!!
No matter what the guys say about this tweak or that tweak, it shouldn't need any for heavens sake.. not to that extream at any rate..It should run right from the moment you open the box..not have to fart around with the dam thing until it's so-so...As far as im concerned this one should recieve the 'Royal Rasberry Award' for the most frustrating, waste of time since .....Well I'm lost for words..   8)
