I run an applet which monitors the CPU and system temperature as well as the various Power Supply voltages.

Only when running FS9, I get an occasional warning that the 3.3 volt line has hit the minimum voltage monitor level which is currently set to 3.00 volts.  This lasts a second or so - my Graphics card is Nvidia FX5600.  Can anyone indicate if this warning is anything to worry about ?  The mean 3.3 volt running level is about 3.10 - 3.15 on my system

Thanks for any advice

I have an Asus mobo, it too bleeps from time to time when running demanding graphics - games!

I've tried a different FX5600 that had a separate power feed (taken from the PSU) and the Voltage Alarm did'nt bleep!

I'd hazzard a guess, like my FX5600m yours has'nt got one of these extra power connectors and thus has to draw all its power from the motherboard.
I'd guess both of the cards probably pull a little too much juice.... I'm really not sure though.  Embarrassed Undecided

I've disabled the voltage monitor on my +3.3v and the machine is none the worse for it, I get no more annoying beeps!

Its the same with my 300watt PSU as it is with a 550 I tried recently, if the FX card is just fed from the AGP port, the Voltage alarm triggers, this dos'nt happen with my old MX440, hence my brilliant theory!  Grin  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes

Hope this helps,

Paul.

Thanks for your in-depth reply.  I was of the same opinion as to perhaps the graphics card loading down the PSU but was unsure which voltage it drew heavily on.  My 3.3 normall hangs around 3.10 and I set the lower alarm to 3.00 when I first experienced the effect.  Nevertheless it occasionally disp below 3.0.

It is interesting that a 'heavier' PSO did not have any effect - mine is 300 watt.  Your reply has saved me a lot of experimenting !

Best regards

IanR
