Alright, here goes.

Welcome to my Coast to Coast flight of the Goodyear Blimp, “Defender.”  I got the job to pilot this thing on a promotional tour, bringing the old gal back into the skies.  After some contracted refurbishing in the Oregon Coast town of Newport, I fueled it up and proceeded to plot my course through the countryside, hitting some out-of-the-way places as well as the big cities.  Can’t cover everyone, of course, but it should be fun taking the blimp into territory that usually doesn’t see it.

I start out early in the morning, and since it’s January, even 7am is pretty dark.  I’m gonna cruise down the coastline following Hwy 101 to Florence before cutting inland.





After a quick stop to confirm weather conditions, I head east towards Crater Lake.  Dipping down into the crater, I get to buzz the tourists and get a close-up aerial view of Wizard Island.





Deciding to stop for lunch and gas, I take a pit stop at Klamath Falls Oregon.  I landed at 11:30 and am ready to go an hour later.  



From there it’s non-stop to Reno, Nevada, where I land at the Reno/Stead airfield just as the sun is going down.  Tie her up, and get ready for another day tomorrow.







We'll see how the weather is tomorrow, and tool around Reno for the day before moving on.
