Hello,

Does anyone know of a tortorial that describes how to do a non ILs approach of can describe how to land an non ILS approach?

I know it sounds confusing but any help would be great.

Thank you

if the airport is equipped with the right navaids, you can always use a VOR DME approach, or even an NDB if it suits you. However, you need the appropiate approach plates where distances and altitudes are displayed.

Non precision approaches (that's an approach without a glideslope signal) are just a thing that you need to practice many times before you master it. It's much about how you "feel" the aircraft, and how well you can anticipate speed/altitude changes and make the correct adjustments. But keep a steady eye on the VASI/PAPI lights at the side of the runway. I always have a bigger safe-margin when doing non-ILS approaches, since my "feel" will never match the accuracy of a GS signal

It's 4.30am so I'm going to bed, hopefully you'll get better replies than mine.

HNY Nexus82,

This might be a good time to send out my annual link to Handy Sheet.  It's not full of approach plates or anything but it's got a lot of basic good info - gotta see it to appreciate it.

In .doc format http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/nav-downloads.htm (move down the page until you see it)

And if you don't have Word, try here http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/hs30.htm

Thanks, Will

I stumbled across this early in my FS experience (wow - it's been a year- how much I have learned) and kept it on my desk until I almost had it memorized.

This would be a good time to thank all my friends at SimV for their good advice and conversation over the past year and best wishes for the new one ... and unfortunately to mourn the passing of John Consterdine.  You guys know where to find that thread.

Anyway, it was nice to  see this released in html format so those without Word could get it.
