Adding an ILS to FS2004 (Read 47 times)

From what I have read here, there is no easy way to add a navaid to an existing airport (but it can be done if you know how).  I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as I want to add the new ILS for Zanesville Municipal Airport (KZZV).   This is the airport I fly from IRL and it would be gret to practice the approach before I go out and try it for real.  With AFCAD2 I can pull up ZZV and add an ILS (the default position for the ILS componants is perfect), but of course I can't save the new ILS once I put it there.

The file with ZZV is AP926170.BGL. Is there any way I can open this file up and manually adjust the data?

Any help would be most appreciated.  I can even supply the approach plate if someone wants it.

Thanks

Paul

I think you can do this with TTools.  I don't use it but check back later and I'm sure one of our resident experts will be over his hangover to help you.

I tried adding an ILS approach to an airport using Afcad2, but for some reason it doesn't add the navaids to the scenery library.

TTools doesn't have anything to do with it, as it changes the AI tracks, not scenery Wink

Surely you must be able to ad an ILS in AFCAD, Does it show on the GPS?

Paul, When you save the AFCAD file it creates a new seperate file just for that AFCAD. You need to make sure the File is enabled in the Scenery Library. Im sure you have already done this, but its good just to check!

Thanks for the replies Smiley

There is a note I read (maybe the readme file, or the AFCAD website) that says that AFCAD2 does not save the new navaid data at this time, but that hopefully a future version will allow you to do this.  A little frustrating but I guess it means eventually it will be possible to add new navaids at will.  It the meantime I was hoping to find a way to manually hack the data files to add the ILS.

Oh, and Happy New Year to everyone!

Happy New Year!

I think there is an AFCAD V2.2 in the beta testing stage now and that is mainly to fix this. Shouldn't be long now!

The new version of AFCAD has been released so hopefully that should solver the problem!
