HI GUYS. TOP OF THE DAY. I AM TRYING TO MAKE A DECISION HERE. WHICH WOULD YOU SAY IS BETTER OR MORE REALISTIC IN EVERY WAY, X-Plane Flight Simulation OR MS FS9 (COF). IS X-PLANE A KILLER ON FRAME RATE LIKE COF.

hey bruce

apparently x-plane is the most realistic out there.

But im guessing you'd have to have one helll of s system to run it

at the end of the day it's just which one you chose. they have their ups and downs as all games

good luck

Comparing FS9 to X-plane is like comparing A Mooney to a paper airplane! FS9 is way better! (I've used them both)

AMD Athlon 64 3700+&&GeForce FX5200 256Mb&&1GB DDR400 DC&&Seagate 500Gb SATA-300 HDD&&Windows XP Professional X64 Edition
&&&&That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they kicked the pants off of my P4 3.4!

It's not really like that.

It all depends on what you want to do with it.

For me, I will pick X-Plane because the flight dynamics are much better than Microsoft's sims. Not only that, X-Plane utilizes a method that allows you to just punch in a few numbers for addon aircraft and the rest is done for you by the sim. FS9 requires the addon developer to punch in a series of numbers that are near-impossible to make accurate.

I know exactly how that feels because I hand-made the Aircraft.cfg file for the Mercedes SL600 [for FS9]. And trust me, the work was a real test on my patience. I'm better off making addons for X-Plane.

I don't mind visual details very much. I'm more interested in dynamic realism [realistic winds, propwash, stalls, aircraft handling, etc.].

The guy who created X-Plane is a VERY SERIOUS competitor to Microsoft. He uses a stratagy that Microsoft [blinded by Corporate Greed] never considered to do. I don't know what it is, but it worked for him for years and he's still kicking M$'s butt. Grin

Ive never had x-plane but i have heard only good things about it.and since the newest version of x-plane is sitting on the shelves at ebgames i will buy it.that way i can have both worlds to fly in.you cant beat that.and to top it off with x-plane you can build your own planes and create your own scenery.and to me thats a pluss i dont have with fs9 with my limited know how.i would say if your a die hard simmer like i am fs9 and the new x-plane should be in your collection.check out the new x-plane here.

P.S i really like that Mercedes SL600 good job Katahu

The latest edition (12/24/03) of "Flight Simulator TV" includes a discussion with the programer of X-Plane and his views on the differences between MSFS and X-Plane.
His recomendations might surprise you.

Well I bought and used xplane when I has FS2002. I was very disappointed in xplane. I found it a bit 'buggy' and soon removed it from my HD.

The lastest version may be a lot better in fairness, but I like FS2004 - as long as you have a decent system to run it on.

Cheers Paul

After watching the show that Joe_D has offered us here i would say X-plane is the true pilots sim and the most realistic and the sim for those that want to see how it really is in the real world.so all in all i would say for the low price of both sims both priced under $50.00 each get fs9 for the eye candy and get x-plane for the realistic flight model.and i have heard from someone that knows x-plane runs on a lot less system resorces.so those low end system owners may want to put x-plane at the top of there list untill upgrades are more affordable to them.have fun everyone.
