Simviation Forum - Has anyone noticed how many forums there are?

There are too many forums here. I thought the FAQ forums were going to be removed though...

I don't think there are too many, personally I only visit 6 or 7 of them on a regular basis, every now and then I look through some of the other forums just to see what's going on, but they are all well organized and easy to find what you are looking for, a lot of message boards I visit use very small fonts and are kind of difficult to find your way around in, SimV offers a wide range of topics and I think that helps to keep a lot of members here.

I like the fact you can come here and discuss most anything with pretty much the same group of people, instead of jumping all over the web trying to find forums that keep a civil attitude when you try to make a point about any given subject, here at SimV it seems that things stay somewhat mature most of the time.

I noticed that both FAQ forums were removed yesterday. I originally suggested this to tidy things up a bit. It was a good idea that was never used properly & didn't work out as intended. Pity, but no point in keeping something that doesn't work. IMHO

maybe we should have taken the posts from the forum and placed them in the faq section on the website, so when a newbie asks. . .just give em the link

.... that was the idea ... & what I posted at the top of the forum - but it virtually never happened ... the idea is still something that would have saved a lot of time & provided an easy & ongoing resource for those FAQ - & there are a lot of FAQ ... but no-one ever took notice & moved the topics there! Roll Eyes

For the idea to work properly the topics would be locked after moving them to a FAQ section. Otherwise anyone could come along, add their own comments & mess things up. This actually happened on more than one occasion. Ideally it would be impossible for ordinary forum members to post new topics there or reply to existing ones. Otherwise it's not practical. IMHO

PS. I did start adding common FAQ for all current M$ sims to my Lair. Some of these were copied direct from my mailbox or this forum with a little editing to tidy them up. I gave up after a while as nobody, especially newbies, seems to realise it's there. The same goes for the FAQ forums.
