I was wondering if it was possible to retrofit afterburners or WEP to a model to allow it to take off from  carrier?
Secondly is it possible to adjust the strength of the cbles on a carrier model, as the USS Stennis by Javier Fernandez seems to arrest any aircraft within 1 plane lenght regardless of landing speed Tongue

Craig. I've forgotten more on this subject than I ever knew. Roll Eyes

If memory serves me right, you should be able to add A/B & WEP in the AIR file. If the aircraft has a proper CFS2-style virtual tailhook I believe this is defined in Aircraft.cfg, not the carrier.

I thought as much about the cables, but the same aircraft will roll much further on the stock Essex or the VN BHR and Oriskany

Just a thought. Would the relative size (scale) of the carrier have anything to do with it? I would think the USS John C. Stennis would be much bigger than a WWII Essex Class carrier.

The fix they made for the A3-D is a little modification to the airfile. It made the aircraft perform as if it was being shot from a cat which enabled it to be launched from a carrier.

I wish all aircraft designers would include this in the air files of all carrier based jets.  Smiley
