Not seen one. The B-36 is one of those types not easy, in fact almost impossible, to model realistically. The FS flight model is limited to 4 engines. The B-36 had 10. Not only that but they were mixed power with 6 piston + 4 jet engines. This again is not currently possible in FS.

I think you're correct. Not sure how many of each type were in service. Not that 6 or 10 would make much difference when the flight model is confined to 4. Tongue Wink

I remember reading somewhere that it was possible to make an aircraft with more than four engines by makeing the throttle controll more than one engine, throttle 1 controls engines 1 & 10, throttle 2 controls 2 & 9, etc...
Don't know how to do it myself since I have no experiance in making a/c and don't have the time to dedicate to it. But im sure that someone could figure it out make the plane. Might not be super realistic but at least we would have it.

of course I could be tottaly off my rocker and just made this up in my head, been a long night at work.

Kevin

P.S. There is a B-36 in the 2002 vintage section on page three here at SimV. I do not know if it is compatible yet but am going to install it in a sec and will post if it works or not.

Ok, installed the plane.
First off i got the non compatible message, clicked no and got ready to see how bad it was.
10 engines, 6 with no visible props, 4 jets.
There are only four engines in the cfg file and they are jets, so the other engines are just there for looks.
All animations including the landing gear seemed to work properly with the exceptions of the props and flaps.
The panel is aliased to the default 737 panel but there is a panel for it available at several sites that I did not download. Sound is also aliased to the 737 sound.
Flying went ok with one exception. The plane wanted to maintain a constant nose down attitude, but a little pitch trim seemed to fix this. Flaps seemed to work properly without the animations. Not sure if anything but the props are not compatible but I had no other problems with the plane so I just might keep it until one comes along for FS9.
Hope this helps,

Kevin

This is going to show my age, but way back in FS4, somebody designed a full ten-engined B-36 by using the twin Lear jet throttle controls and "spoiler" control to do a pretty doggon good flying model.  When the "spoiler" was "up" (on) the drag emulated the jet pods shut down.  Nothing is impossible if one is imaginative enough....

Hi John. I agree there's usually a way over most things. The main problem is that the average "simmer" spends far more time in the cockpit these days & wants things as realistic as possible. I don't think, in fact I'm certain, that it would be possible to have more than 4 engine gauges or controls with the current FS flight model. Even on a more conventional type like the B-52 the only way over it is to double up so that each engine is actually 2.
